Yeah monsters are just, part of the training program. They drop gil and stuff that you can use to upgrade your crap in a match though you run the risk of someone hearing your gunfire and such. Alternatively if you're a monk or warrior you just bop them to death (assuming they aren't a flying mob).

Trials will still need randos, they aren't adding trusts to those for now.
