I was conflicted if this should have been posted in the edutainment thread, but it’s not quite educational, just really interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8tjA8VyfvU This is about PCI cards that were sold in the 2000s to essentially let people use two Windows users at the same time with an additional monitor, keyboard and mouse. Almost all software ran flawlessly with a computer at the time. Microsoft wouldn’t have liked this, because they only wanted one user using a copy of Windows at a time, but I would have never thought that two sessions of Windows with apps could run just fine at the same time. He even split one computer into 6 users running at once, and with most ordinary desktop applications it ran fine. The point that he was trying to make, is that we’ve been incredibly wasteful with all this power for years. School’s computer labs could have distributed one computer to several students with no problem. I know this might be an obvious thing that was done at the time, but I never really heard of it until now.
