People need to have a genuine and compelling reason not to be fat, because right now the negatives (-15% lifespan) don't outweigh the positives (+200% burrito consumption). Therefore I propose that everyone under 22.5 BMI gets to throw one rock at Wizard Master.

every socioeconomic group broken out separately has gotten appreciably fatter. billionaires to the destitute. every mental health group broken out separately, from the completely hale to the criminally institutionalized

no food industry in any country has been successfully moderated in getting people fatter, up to and including north korea, where after years of (relative, lol) prosperity they are now making antiobesity cartoons and poo poo

no public health intervention has ever succeeded in any way in a lasting manner to get peeps to be less fat. no examples.

Do you have a good paper/review on this?

the mental health data i know is proprietary but the complete failure of public health intervention is well known

TY. I think it's saying that public health measures have never been seriously tried, rather than that they aren't effective.
The throw-things-at-bad-posters plan is still on the table.

japan implemented both of those in the late 00's (really fat shaming long before and the metabo law, which includes collective fat shaming, in 2008) and they're still getting fatter. they aren't very fat compared to anyone else industrialized of course, but they're still fat compared to indigenous peeps - and gettin fatter

Sadly metabo law is not a direct personal fine for being fat. Absolute top tier fat shaming though, someone give the Japanese government a sixer.
