I loved hammer and axe bots back in the day but they make so little sense these days, they're just difficult to control and get a good hit with, especially when you compare them to a big drum spinner that you just need to point in the general direction of the thing you want dead.

So. Much. FIRE. Imagine being asked to build something that has to survive being on fire for two minutes, and pulling it off. Its mind blowing how hardened some of these machines are. Switchback was about as unimpressive as I expected it to be. Its great to some kind of innovation but they seem to have gone too far too fast, especially for such an inexperienced team.

I was thinking that, I feel like the design has been fine-tuned as best it can but everyone knows about it and designs with it in mind. So he'll still take out a large chunk of the competition but the real experienced teams are just going to shrug him off and make him break his fist on their face.

Yeah, if he gets put into those corners he's stuffed, it'd take forever to get out of. I found out yesterday that the bot builders only found out about the shelf a week or two before filming so no one really had time to think about it or prepare for it.

I really wish they'd give a weight bonus to cluster bots, 150lb at most or something. Also Shred's "Wings of Liberty" shell seems like a bad idea, when they fully span up they actually looked like they were close to taking off.

I just don't get Defender. Its a new bot, from a team of experienced builders, and they must know you're pretty much never going to win unless you cause some damage points. But it doesn't have any way of damaging other bots.

Having a poke at the Battlebots site and they've put the bracket up on Saturday here; https://battlebots.com/2021-bracket/. Its currently password protected so you can't actually see it until it goes live some time on Thursday. Found a blank bracket thing you can fill in here. From looking at the site more I think its possible to find out who is through to the final 32 and what their seeds are. So yeah... Edit: Yup, found out who the seeds are. Kind of. For some reason there's two 31 seeds and an "alt" seed. That mights explain why seeds 1 and 2 don't currently have an opponent listed for their first fight. I'm looking at these seeds and, I'll be honest, I think they're a bit crap. There's a couple that are in that I don't think should be and a few that should be in that aren't.
