5% is not a low drop rate; an uncountable number of such things would exist before the closing of the first day and crash any market they would be entered into. Also lol at the idea of geometrically increasing the amount of busywork a dedicated player would need to do to stay competitive.

The more I read it the more it looks like a veiled approximation of what Axie Infinity had going on: a cabal of patrons staked the entrance cost of players in exchange for a cut of the proceeds, recreating from scratch an employee-employer relationship.

"Play to earn isn't looking like a good deal to actual players." Gee you think? If a bot can do it better than a human (and the implementation of a bot is trivial) then the environment will be all bots. Although the alternative is the Axie Infinity model where the average user is priced out of the market altogether and has to have their play subsidized by someone else who takes a cut...who eventually dictate play like a boss to maximize profit.

SE liquidating its developers was a good move since they were languishing under its thumb, and to say they did it solely to fund NFT pet projects is just people looking to pin blame on something. That said, let them break themselves on NFTs. They’ll change their tune when they shove it into some game down the line and the playerbase riots.

I have no idea what they get out of this. Do they have a stake in the NFT host Enjin? Do they have a plan if that company goes tits up? Do they make money on the resale of the NFT? So many questions.

SE is not alone here. Two of the founding members of that network are Bandai-Namco and Sega of America execs.

For a company that runs an mmo you would think they would realize that if bots are capable of automating even part of their nft game it will crater the price of any goods through excess supply.
