Meet Chaos, our first augmented wardroid! Higher melee and shooting skill, double the speed of regular wardroids and it has multiple arms so it melee attacks faster. It only has 20% more armor than regular wardroids, but they have more hit points on each part. They are not cheap however, they require 680 steel, 320 plasteel, 24 components and 12 advanced components. Yeesh. I'll swap Chaos' minigun with Jack's LMG, better to give them a more accurate weapon.

Randy wants to help out with the gojuice production and drops off some neutromine.

Dear god, acid spitting venus flytraps?

Lets see if they can truly take out mechanoids! Also I've placed some fencing in front of the embrasures to keep raiders from running right up to them and getting defensive cover. As I get more steel I'll just line the entire edge of the stem with fencing.

For some reason a bunch of them decided to path up towards the top of the main bong before turning around and heading into the kill stem. Clearly they weren't designed with tactics in mind. When butchered these drop sentient plant skin as a leather which is good at heat protection but not much else. They also drop "plant meat", which is a vegetable item.

I send the robots out to attack a group more technologically advanced than tribals.

Dali lands a direct hit on a pirate.

... A pirate makes Ragu pass out with a tranq 'nade. And then a real 'nade takes them out

Clearing out this base gets us another 2 allies, just 2 more factions to go!

A dance party to celebrate the new allies!

And finally, a successful party, bringing a venerated animal!

This horrifically ugly thing can breath fire I'm sure Lela would enjoy such a pet.

Successful tame! Also there is the pulsar relic, just thrown on the floor. Hey, it makes the room slightly less impressive.

Another manhunter craze of vegetative animals. Is Randy suggesting we become vegetarians?

Some rework in the server room and showing off the final bench from RimApps, RimTwitch. Now we can do watch parties in exchange for uranium. No, seriously thats what the twitch ad servers provide.

Attacking another pirate outpost, another jackass with tranq nades. Thankfully all he managed to do was tranq a big group of his own people, thankfully the droids can handle one tranq grenade.

A side bonus, besides getting stuff from the raiders and what I can deconstruct, the maps are actually full sized maps so they got hills and what not that I can have Godna mine out. It takes about 3 and a half days for enemies to show up. But thats more than enough time to go through and grab a bunch of stuff.

Some nice equipment as well... every droid has a lasersword or monosword has a side weapon. This is cash in the bank, which is gonna go into buying more plasteel. That advance Rimtube server only provides 38 plasteel every 15 days.

Oh, what did you finish building there bios?

This baby goes to Drakenel, replacing their auto shotty. It fires several beams of light and, like all other laser weapons, can start "warming up" which will cause each consecutive shot to fire faster, with a threat of causing a little explosion when overheating.

And let me tell ya, making my own laser weaponry... it costs 9k points to be able to "salvage" a laser weapon. Why bother making crappy weapons? Then to make proper laser weapons it requires 24 thousand research points, and then 20 intelligence to actually craft the stuff. Good thing bios was researching at the start!

Every colonist has a laser or plasma weapon, though bios has a heavy SMG as a secondary as their tesla weapon doesn't do any damage. I'm gonna make them a plasma rifle to replace that. I wanted to have all our droids using laser weapons too but.. woof, with the research costs, the material costs, that... isn't gonna happen. Outside of hacked mechs of course.

You may have noticed some visitors who will have an exclamation point near their head, this means you can get a list of quests from them that you can pay for to unlock. I wanna see if I can get some good loot off item stashes.

Free 600w of power from a scroll, neat. I can hold onto that for the next colony. Also an advance component is always nice.

And then some mechoids ambush the search party!

Robot on robot violence! More steel and mechoid parts for us!

I'm surprised its taken this long for someone to get addicted to something else. Last one was a wake up addiction like... 4 updates ago.

Meet Senrath, our newest upgraded wardroid. I gave them bios' heavy SMG, I need some more robots with weapon ranges between minigun and sword. They will continue clearing out hostile bases.

Why would I care about the title inheritance of a hostile faction member?

Some raiders showed up (right after the droids finished a pirate camp. Rude as gently caress, thankfully they were able to fly back in time) and look at what showed up. I want it

2 things: 1, why are raiders trying to breach when there is an open path inside the colony and 2: Veloxyll why did you go outside of the base.

Third what is going on with this character's tail? So this little gently caress up has made Veloxyll lose their shoulder and system stabilzer, gotta repair kit that.

Lynneth... is not doing too well. Clearly I should've made her have Luci.

But what we got in the end :getin:

You know whats great about using droids to clear out complexes? They do not suffer from explosions and fire. They CAN however take damage from being a room that is nearly 2k F

Talking mad poo poo for someone in siegebreaker range!

Though apparently I'm the one talking mad poo poo as Dali took so drat long to recover from their shot that the raiders were able to close the distance and spam the poo poo out of rockets on them.

Yeeeep

How many loving rocket launchers did you assholes bring :argh:

Oh and because I wasn't paying attention Dali got shredded.

So I'm currently having a problem... Heretic's Luci supply ran out. And the only place that is selling any is all the loving way out here. Its gonna be another 28 days before supplies restock. So I chuck whatever merchant fodder is in base, 5k silver, a bunch of survival meals and get ready to send Heretic on a wild trip on the albatross to the other side of the drat planet.

Godspeed :patriot:

Surprisingly it only takes like half a day for them to fly over. I was expecting 2 or 3. But thats about another year worth of Luci. Debating if I should wait another 30 days just so I can go make another run so Heretic will have enough pills next colony.

Speaking of the next colony, I reached the wealth threshold. I'm gonna hold off for a bit longer, gonna make a bunch of things to upgrade the colonists before moving on. I need to get everyone some mercury weave clothing and of course some chrome. Now that I got their weapons settled I can spend all my money buying plasteel and advance components to make bionics.

Something I haven't mentioned yet, I have a mod that allows some overflow on various needs for colonists. Mostly this is so you don't lose nutrition when colonists eat, as they don't wait until 20% or less to eat, when meals will recover 70-90% of the hunger bar. But hey its also effecting Heretic's luci need, so it isn't a waste to pop a pill without playing chicken with the needs bar.

All five colonists get a modulated shield belt, remember these are the belts that will shield the wearer and let them shoot. This should help with keeping them safe during a firefight, since they wont have amazing armor.

Lynneth has had a few toes shot off so I got them an advanced bionic leg. Despite being their second bionic part and even having the text here change (1 is "transhumanist modded" instead of connected. Modded has the text "This artificial body part matches my belief") its still only a +1. Whats also strange is that while pawns will get a penalty to social relations for not having bionic parts, they don't get an bonuses for those that do.

Its by this orgy I realize 3 of the colonists all have the same tattoos. I'm too embarrassed to say which one. What else is going on during this time?

Droids are clearing out complexes and fighting bugs, as you do. Sadly nothing of note, I'm hoping to find some luci in these complexes. They did find a masterwork recon armor and prestige helmet, that was worth 5k silver. With my money, and that I'll be losing everything once the colony is sold, I'm going around grabbing spell scrolls and skilltrainers, stuff that I can take onto the next colony.

I found this scroll which will be *very* useful in making sure I can get Heretic to throw heal spells around. I also got Lela a blur scroll (20% chance to dodge attacks) and a lightning trap spell, which lets me place a lightning mine wherever. I also build a scribe table so I can make a heal scroll for Lela. bios also gets a lightning satchel scroll so they can EMP a large group of mechs.

Speaking of mechs, there is a class that is made for fighting them that I want Drakenel to be but I can't find a book for it. Even more insulting, there was plenty of places selling the book at the start of this run and I thought maybe I should buy one and hold onto it, but didn't, and now I regret it. I even hit up a bunch of the magic faction's settlements, since I cannot check their stock through the comms console, to try and find a book.

And drat, speaking of the magic faction, they're visiting and they're hungry

Like ka-ching. I stopped making content on rimapps as the colony will be sold soon so there is no point in getting more followers, more pawns to be servers. I go ahead and remove the single wall fridge that was holding beers to put a door there so servers can access the fridge more quickly. Maybe I should've kept the bottom section the fridge instead of making it the kitchen...

I built a shelf to hold the "vegetabtop" for the ducks. I also build a shelf in the barracks to hold the taitanian for the other animals. Even though that makes the barracks look a little better which the colonists don't like

Showing off the lightning mine and... that... wasn't really amazing.

But then it proceeded to strike another 5 or so times.

And here is something I failed to mention, the auto crane can fix up things in its radius.

Oh, thanks you god drat morons :argh:

Few of them have died and dropped their stuff. And whose loving fault is that? Dervin and SomeoneAwful almost bit it but the colonists walked out almost entirely unscathed, the only issue were the drat fire weapons. Even though its constantly raining they can still do damage.

Somehow the entire drat colony got food poisoning during that battle? Even the animals got food poisoning, I had to turn off the autobong cause every colonist and animal was passing out as they approached.

The final christmas party in Club Wonderwall! This colony has now gone on for 6 years at this point.

Wow, hardcore drugs that kills you if you don't keep taking it can clean up cholesterol? Sign me the gently caress up!

We have gone through 69 ducks! :nice:

Drakenel... Drakenel... You've been physically adept for a very long time. A very, VERY long time.

Seems on the high end the various class books are 3 and a half grand...

Doo dee dooo....

Whoa, finally I found the mech hunter book totally legit!! Now that Drakenel has legitimately become a mech hunter by reading a book I actually bought for 3.5k silver from the magic faction, lets look at their class abilities!

E-AP Shell will explode and deal massive damage to any mechanoid or heavily armored target. It'll also stun the target

Frag Shot is an AOE shot that will stun the primary target

Starshot will deal massive damage to structures but not a lot to pawns

Destabilizer will stun targets and can be thrown through walls and doesn't require a line of sight

Hookshot will pull the caster to whatever is targetted

Nanite Bullet will deal high damage and has a chance to instantly kill a mechanoid. It requires a nanite bullet to fire, and the mech hunter will generate 1 bullet a day.

Definitely going to want one of these next colony

Oh wow. We don't get many work sites popping up as we are not raiders, but with the last colony I have never seen a component site. Nothing besides hunts and wood cutting work sites. Time to send the droids out

Bunch of tribals huh, well your human wave tactics are a lot less effective when you're fighting robots who are all carrying a sword of some kind. I just set every droid to search and destroy with their melee weapons, there is no point of strategy against human waves.

What were these tribals doing with 76 components anyways? But hey more components to turn into advance components for more bionics.

Wow, imagine getting having an affair and it turns out your partner's... spouse? It just says "wrong person" so maybe it isn't even an affair. Anyways, imagine loving someone and in retaliation you get a god drat mechanical swarm sent after. Also your blood is rotting. But hey... thats a lot of luciferium.

gently caress, I made some aurum eyes to replace Lela's and Lynneth's scarred eyes and I cannot install them. Guess I'll sell this and use the silver for something else. Probably shouldn't make any other high end bionics, which means at this point I'm just waiting for the prisoner to be picked up before selling the colony.

I did give a musclewire to everyone except Lynneth, who has their advance bionic leg. I guess I can make a second pair for everyone while waiting. Also I'm making advance bionic eyes for Lynneth and Lela's scarred eyes. Getting their third bionic part DOES give an extra point to Lynneth's being modified mood for their ideology.

Jeeze I was wondering when these were gonna arrive. A lightning strike hits them and activates the cluster, but they're just sitting there and not bothering to move.

And in the 11th hour this loving jackass decides its time to berserk.

Thankfully bios has a taser.

Have fun in an Empire gulag! And now that we got our luciferium it is time...

One final look at our robot buddies who will be left behind.

One final look of Bong Colony. I'm gonna miss this, I really liked how the dining area looked.

Hope the buyers don't mind that there is a mech cluster hanging around. Hey, they bought the club, what happens outside of these walls is none of our concern! So we can only bring 5 colonists, 5 animals, a single relic (which is why I didn't bother getting the other 2) and up to 7 items...

Oh and those 7 items? Strange that our colonist's weapons are in this list huh? Thats because weapons are not brought over! Only your pawn's clothing is kept, any other equipment they have isn't carried over and you have to use them against your 7 item limit. Meaning if I want everyone to bring a weapon over that is already 5 of the 7, nevermind any side arms. Then I'll need to bring Heretic's Luci and basically everyone has an alcohol addiction so I'm gonna need to bring some beers and hey that is 7 items. Its... pretty restrictive...

I take all 3 pets and a breeding pair of ducks, as well as a weapon for each pawn, all our luci and some whiskey. You also get warned that Charlon will no longer be on the planet. Have I ever mentioned that in the last LP? In every game after some time passes you'll get a quest about an AI contacting you that you can travel to who will have a ship ready to fly you off the planet, instead of building one yourself. Selling your colony will remove this quest, probably because of what happens next...

You pick where your next colony will be, and if Charlon didn't peace out you could just land your next colony right next to it. Now where to land next... I've thought about this for a while, I really wanted to land in tundra, issue is though with this colony's gimmick we would get basically no visitors because the weather would be too dangerous for visitors. Even in bong colony I would try to call people over for a visit and would get the "bad temperature" message.

So we're gonna land over here on Tebum Island in a tropical rainforest.

We can change our colonist's ideology when moving. I remove the sweet tooth meme as it was just impossible to get the desserts need filled, so everyone was stuck with a permanent -12 moodlet. I swap in transhumanist, I mean it makes sense I guess. With this meme I will need to build some buildings to perform certain actions on our pawns, I'll talk more about those when we get to it. Some ritual and role names will change as changing memes will completely reset everything in the ideology, I couldn't just load in the old one and swap the meme out. The patissier role is gone, in its place is the research specialist job that gets a 70% bonus to research speed and hacking, however they will be unable to do a lot of other work. I've added regular cats as a venerated animal and removed all the relics and just kept 1, a fancy bottle of something good, I'm sure. Earrings have been assigned to the preferred apparel.

Oh and the "Marriage arranged" precept? From a mod that reworks romance so now I can manually have pawns marry instead of waiting for the RNG to fire. They still need to be fiances though, so I can't make the polycule happen.

Dropping into the new map we get this message. Weird, why are those names red?

Oh..... all relations were...reset....

Here is how our map looks. We do have a few funnels leading to the mountains here. I'm thinking of having our entry be south of that little marsh next to those strange looking buildings. What is that anyway?

So besides getting the maps we'll need to decipher them, which is done at this building. So its for the best to have the entrance be near here if just so our colonists can quickly get to and from it.

Speaking of our colonists, here they all are. Besides the 7 items I brought with me it seems you also get everything that was in your original drop dropping again,so we got a batch of survival meals, components, the rifle, revolver and knife, oh and we got another engineering droid kit.

Your colonist's moods are the exact same when you hit that sell button, so make sure you have them all eat up, take their last drink, pop some wakeup and use the bathroom before moving colonies.

Now to start... all over again...

The game doesn't really consider them as being different from organic pawns. They just have their needs and moods removed. They can still get magic induced dementia, healed by magic spells, etc. Also how they can get high walking through autobongs.

When I did my archonexus run I printed out some super androids and slappled on all the cybernetics I could. Went to the new colony with only my super androids and waited for an offer for archionexus, did it, then did it again. Your pawns and all of their cybernetics count as part of your colony wealth (which I think is god drat stupid). Which is why when you only have one chromed up pawn they'll have sky high expectations.

I've read that if you go back to where your old colony was, it has become just another basic randomly-generated settlement camp, so I guess the new owners tricked you into trading your colony for part of a map, and then proceed to raze all your work to the ground for the land so they can build some wood shacks and a farm in the middle of a desert.

Alright that would make sense, cause I didn't get any "so and so got food poisoning from an incompetent cook". Just having every organic being bed stricken confused the hell out of me. It was made all the worse that only Veloxyll could deliver meals as all the other droids had "care" locked off.

Also I edited in the post, but I'll say it here for those that already read it: The "arranged marriage" precept means I can manually have marriages happen instead of waiting for RNG, but pawns will still need to become fiances first, so its not actual arranged marriage.

First thing's first, I set up the engineering droid, CalamitousJustice and open up a nearby ancient danger. Just a single hive? Pffft

Eat laser! Sure, no robot to provide a body shield but we've got technology and magic.

I set up the basics inside, and Drakenel and Lela are already breaking their new bed in while Heretic and Bios are eating.

A nice bonus to moving away from the desert is all the natural food, I mean look at this bit here, in the northeastern part of the map. We got bananas, oranges, coconuts, pineapples and of course the ever present berries all up here. I've also spotted mandarins, peaches and lemon trees around the area.

With all the fruit trees laying around and wildlife I don't really need to worry about building up a farm right now, but now that we are no longer on a coastline I can show off a different planting zone: Water. Obviously these can only be placed on water and we can plant lotus, taro, water chestnut and watercress. It has the same tradeoffs of desert planting, where it takes longer to sow and it'll take longer to gather. I have water chestnuts set, it'll go good with stir fries.

Lynneth clearly wants some stir fries too. But uh... all I got is the survival meals right now. I get Bios to calm her down, that 18 social is really working out for me.

I realized there was a hermatic crate inside the ancient danger so I popped it open, this is a techprint that will let me make healing related bionics. Also I've got a wood generator up, some much needed AC, an electric stove and one research bench. I need to clear up the space in here and slap down more benches, I need to get batteries researched ASAP so Calamitous can recharge.

As for the caskets... eh they can wait a little longer. Also I might need to shove Heretic in there if the luci runs dry

Aaand now I notice something troubling, for whatever reason the plants I'm growing are taking damage and getting destroyed for no reason. That is.. concerning. And then I realized what the issue is: This spot is close to the archotech structure, and all the plants near it are dying out.

I get Calamitous carving out the new club, which is going to be under a mountain. I guess for now everyone will get their own rooms, since the barracks precept hates good looking rooms and I don't want everyone being pissy they share a barracks. Until the polycule finally happens.

Leading into the mountain I set up a pen to throw the ducks into. This area also holds a bathtub, latrine and a stonecutter table. Unfortunately a lot of the soil here is rock soil with the crappy fertility. While I coast off the fruits of the land I'll need to set up some plowed soil here.

At this point I realize no one is bathing, it seems these colonists aren't as eager to use marsh water to clean themselves as the last LP.

I hear some fighting going on and I see these two. Don't think I've ever seen wild animals attack one of their own species before.

Er... hold up. Humans are too big to be bitten by these things?

If you say so game...

I've been pushing off microelectronics further to get liquor distilling researched, that whiskey isn't going to last. Cider can be made with specific fruits, on this map I'll be using all the gros michel bananas for this. Can't use regular bananas or a lot of other fruits, as this function only works with the vanilla plants expanded mod. No need to build a still and need certain temps to get these fermenting (well, besides a "warm" spot). Cider can't get our pawns too drunk, but it'll satisfy that alcohol addiction.

Let's talk living underground, properly. Besides infestations there is a few other downsides to living under a mountain, namely when it comes to the early moving in. Tons of dirt everywhere that'll drive your colonists crazy with how ugly the rooms are. Lela and Drakenel's current room has -123 rating, because of how ugly and dirty the room is. Beyond that (and all the chunks laying around), the rough hewn flooring has -1 beauty, the walls give -2. We can smooth the flooring and walls, which gives 2 and 1 beauty, respectively. This uses the construction skill and takes time.

Now I need to carefully plan out how I want to dig out this new club, so I can keep natural walls for smoothing potential. And as for how I'm gonna have this base look?

Well first we need to give this club a name....

o/~ Oh wee oh wee oh o/~

I know the heart isn't perfect, cut me some slack. Consider it how the heart looks after a life of drugs and partying. Calamitous is carving out the future fridge, and will smooth the floors to get rid of the dirty penalty they give.

Everyone has been complaining about not having an Emblem of Bliss nor certain roles. I throw up an emblem and now they're mad that the room isn't fully floored and I don't have columns up  Heretic becomes a Jubilent Joker and Drakenel becomes a Revelling Giggler.

At this point the area around the archotech structure is devoid of all trees and most grass, just a few patches left as well as some anima grass laying around.

God, the bounty of mother nature.

.... Alright we have an issue, the cider isn't fulfilling the alcohol need. I get a gin still up and start harvesting berry bushes. Everyone is starting to get alcohol withdraws which is making them agonizingly slow.

You're an rear end in a top hat Randy. Reminder that the only person with any medical skill is Lynneth... with a score of 8. Though Heretic is healing faster than the plague progresses without any medical treatment, thanks to the luciferium.

An overview of how the colony is looking thus far. On the east outdoor opening I have the ducks penned in and have thrown down a grow zone to get some weed growing. In there I also threw up an electronic glassworks to make circular glass for ceiling lamps, a stone cutting bench and an art bench as everyone is upset with the lack of art.

On the western opening, off screen its walled off and thats where I'm planning on moving the animals into and having that area be where farming proper will happen. The grow zone there is doing some tea for now, until I can research strawberry planting. There is also a geyser on the west side, offscreen. I'll use that area up there for solar and wind farms.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

RIP Shigeko :(

bios has a rather screwed up sense of timing.

Lela has other plans :smith:

Also everyone has a -5 mood for a week for a venerated animal dying.

Oh thank god Heretic is about ready to murder someone and Lynneth is so agonizingly slow I cannot get enough berries harvested. A single drink and their withdrawls vanish and suddenly they're back to regular speed.

At the tip of the heart I set up where the high tech research benches will go. I'm debating if I should build a second one, or use that space for servers. Since we just want a wealthy colony and all the colonists are in high tech weapons and somewhat chromed up already, I'm not really in a rush to research a lot. Just need to get droids researched and some power options.

Now lets talk about something that should've been happening from the start, but the story teller I chose made me turn it off cause I couldn't focus on both this and getting raided non stop: Mechanoid invasion mechanics! Mechs will land ships around the planet which will increase the size of mechanoid raids. We can go out to them and clear them out, and the landing sites have all kinds of mechanoid components and the like laying around.

So much for me saying "Don't need to research that fast", I need to get some SRTS ships up for traveling purposes, as even for this one that close by its still a 2 day round trip.

Speaking of things I wanted to show off last colony but couldn't, due to chronic steel shortages... :getin:

At the cost of 20 steel per segment, we can build glass walls that emit colored light! We can do blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink and purple. I wanted to make the bong colony walls all green, but well... you saw how much I was struggling with steel. I want to get the outer area of the colony in red walls, but for the inner walls its gonna be pink. I'll do the inside walls first since it'll take up less steel. This is also why I haven't bothered smoothing walls, they're gonna be replaced with these.

Lela spontaneously caught sensory mechanites while hunting and... this isn't actually that bad? So what these do is give various bonuses to the pawn, in exchange they constantly feel pain and get tired faster. Treatment only keeps the pain and sleep rate in check... but Lela has a persona weapon that makes her not feel any pain. Sure the fact she'll sleep more often bites, but this isn't as bad as it could be.

Among the rich variety of wildlife in the jungle we also get elephants. Shot a few, got them to go berserk so they're easier to shoot. Wont have to worry about food for a bit!

Oh god dammit

Those assholes are going to burn up all the fruit trees!

I get everyone ready and have Drakenel use their mech hunter abilities for the first time. This looks like it will be a pretty nice opener...

:sickos:

And the tooltip was NOT exaggerating about the mechs being stunned for a very long time, as you can see none them moved from their original spot. Good lord. The only reason bios is damaged is because their laser gun overheated. I get a machining table built up so we can shred these.

Why... why would you make a sculpture of this?

And hey got this finished up. I forgot to mention but beyond killing all plants nearby, the archonexus tower also causes a -10 mood penalty to pawns within its pulse radius.

Now there we go, a heart within the heart. The start of the dance/dining area, also where I'll be throwing the altar into. I've set up wall refrigerators up top so servers wont have to go into the fridge to get meals.

Now that the altar is in its proper place, you know what that means

No, I don't know why Lynneth left and decided to cut down a tree while in the buff.

But who am I to question their kooky deviant ways?

drat has it already been 3 months? So I got some burn out when finishing up the last colony cause at this point I have played for as long as the cannibal colony. Then I got a job that actually works me full time. However its overnight, and I live with my brother and his family so I have to set aside a lot of time for sleeping cause of how often I get woken up, so my free time absolutely tanked. I wont be returning to how I was updating before, but I'm getting back into things.

For the record my previous post was about this glorious red text I got after the update was posted. I'm sure its about this update, otherwise its someone getting at me for making fun of them a week ago and only got around to making this at some point between me going to work last night and coming home today. I swear it wasn't a cry for posts!

I thought something about your avatar/text combo was different! I thought I just had a faulty memory.

Was I ever on the list to be one of the robopawns? It's been long enough now that I forget if I asked.

Haven't seen that glowing wall mod before, it's fancy. I prefer low tech playthroughs, though, so a lot of the mods on the workshop are ones I'd never touch.

Some people go to orgies to gently caress people, her version of an orgie is being a lumberjack and chopping down trees.

Edit: add me to the list please, you can even name a tree or a pot after me.

Last colony I had that "fish tank" that let me do some fishing where I want, it made me check out for a proper fish keeping mod. So now Lela and Drakenel have a koi in their room :) And yes, that koi will swim back and forth (somewhat) within the tank.

You know, a heart shaped colony is cool and all but I've spent a very long time staring at this trying to figure out how I'm supposed to form... you know, everything else besides the center. I can't make symmetrical rooms

What I'm gonna try out is carving a 2 tile wide hallway outside of the center, have a tile of walls around this hallway and then carve everything out and just throw up walls to split up rooms.

There was a batch of steel near where I have the animals penned up at, I'm gonna fill up the mined out area with some walls both to provide more layers in case any sappers show up, but some of that area is considered under overhead mountain and I'd rather not have insects spawn around the animals. Poor Calamitous, completely swamped with build and mining orders. I also send Calamitous around to mine some areas away from the colony to get some overhead mountain tiles out there, just to try and get any insect spawns to show up there instead.

I haven't gotten around to putting in a proper water system thus far, but last update you may have noticed that I had septic tanks queued up. Thus far I've had no raids (though some jackasses showed up to cut some trees down that I omitted) so this will work out better in getting fertilizer for the fields. I'm getting some healroots and cotton planted in the tilled tiles.

Huh, I never seen multiple wild people wandering in. Hope they survive the local fauna! One of them is a cleric so I guess they'll manage.

On the far north side of the map I spot a gold vein, this is great for getting the gold for a multi analyzer and the eventual skip.

Why am I thinking of a certain scene from Monty Python?

Well that is interesting to learn, manhunter animals can climb over fences. Also they ignore wild people.

.... Am I really gonna hide from a bunch of rabbits?

Tonight's menu has been changed to braised rabbit haunch and fire roasted bell peppers.

Well, at least for the ones that didn't instantly rot to scaria :argh:

I dig a little bit into the mountain in the farm area to set up a crematorium and put a dump zone there. I also set up some sewage stuff, with a septic tank out there. May as well plow the entire area!

There is a lot of thunderstorms going on in the colony, some with rain and others without. A nice bonus of that archotech structure killing all nearby plants is that it provides a fire wall. I just need to get a lightning tower put in the farming area to protect the crops and animals.

Its funny that we moved from a perma thunderstorm place to another place that constantly has thunderstorms.

I get rid of the chess table for some recreation that would be more appropriate for a group of partiers: a poker table. A mod that adds gambling would be great, you set up some slots and poker tables and get silver off your guests with the risk that the guests can win big.

Hrm, well have fun lighting the jungle on fire during a rainstorm I guess.

I sent bios to a nearby settlement with the revolver, rifle, plasteel knife and some joints to get enough silver to fill the center heart (which will now be called the Pleasure Lounge, as that is what the hedonist temple is called) with disco flooring. In the top right I put up a tailor bench and have Lela turning all the various leathers I got from butchering into cowboy hats. I need a lot more silver to get a skip up and running.

I'm aware this goes against me having robots do all the labor while everyone parties, but I really need to get this stuff coming in now. We work hard, we play hard.

And look at that, its time to celebrate the holidays! Already 2 seasons into this colony. Also the name generated for this christmas tree building is called the Pleasure Pine, which sounds painful.

Strangely enough I don't get a rating for this ritual and the tree doesn't deconstruct, I guess they changed how this works?

...Why.

So for the only 2 who has actually managed to remain a couple, they get their room finished first. Floors are smoothed out, red light walls... must be a pain to sleep when your walls glow deep red. They also get their own bathroom.

Everyone is so impressed by it that they throw a party in that room :v:

Once the skip is built its time to go flying. Note the hexagonal nuts on the island. The filled ones are frigate landing zones, the ones with a hole are destroyers. Besides the obvious "Bigger ships have more mechs/defenses", they also buff any mech raids that happen. I get Bios and Drakenel packed up and head to the first frigate that landed.

Interesting location that they landed in. Quite a few mechs around too, but thats ok, we have a mech hunter!

Drakenel opens up with a nanite bullet and good god, that was just 1 single shot.

Everyone falls back a bit as an emp cannon is brought down on top of most of the mechs. There is a single pikeman firing from range that I have Drakenel burn another nanite bullet on. Then I rush everyone forward to point blank and start taking out all the stunned mechs.

Taking out the last of the mechs, all that remains is the ship itself and a turret. There is a reactor that I have selected in the center that will cause a large explosion if damaged so....

That... didn't work as I would've hoped, and it spawned even more mechs.

The various movement bionics I gave everyone is paying off

Lots of stunning with abilities to try and slow the mechs down and picking them off one by one, I manage to turn the tables around, though everyone is getting kinda jacked up. Drakenel is bleeding pretty badly so I have them go back home and bring Lela on over.

And look at all this loot! Can't wait until I get an albatross so I can haul more of this junk home. I walk away with 17 components, 10 advanced components and 80 plasteel.

Oh dear, the mechs are raiding back and they're going after some of the wild people hanging around the colony :ohdear:

Also note the mech with a bubble shields, with the ships landing there will be upgraded forms of mechs showing up. Of course... this means once I get hacking set up again we can make use of these.

drat I just cleared the first one!

I have Lela use attraction to keep the melee mechs from rushing, and to pull the ranged ones away from cover and then have bios chuck down some roots so the mechs keep getting damaged by them.

Then Heretic tosses a royal road at the group. Being able to do things like this is what I love about the rimmagic classes, I don't have to make a 1 tile maze that is full of sandbags that opens up to a killbox.

And then some people walked on through... just in time for a bunch of manhunting cobras to show up. Sucks.

Speaking of foreign relations, this pops up. I send bios off. I'm digging how thus far its only been mechs attacking, makes it look like we've been friends all along. We get 68 relations, still in the negatives though.

Holy poo poo this duckling got struck by lightning :stare:

100% tame chance eh? And what is among the varied fauna here in the jungle?

A god drat raptor, thats what! Imagine all the hits we'll get when I start building the various social media benches. Any schmuck can dab on camera, but do they have a raptor? Imagine the required house tour video and BAM! Raptor!

Its taken a year for a human attack to finally happen.

You know... despite being in a mountain I cannot find anymore steel and am struggling to build anything cause of it. I was hoping these guys would've built sandbags and bring steel with them, but of course these jackasses want to build wooden barricades instead. Also one of their mortars will be made out of tin. These assholes.

Fun fact: Heretic's royal road counts as an explosion to set off high explosive shells!

I took all their weapons and metal armor, smelted those and the metal slags that their drop pods left behind...

...then send Drakenel and bios to another frigate, this one looking to be easier since it doesn't have a troop module. However it does have an uplink module, that part in the center middle. Its making the mechs move at 150% speed. Cause scythers that move at 7 speed isn't bullshit.

And then Drakenel with a single shot blows the entire god drat ship up :stare:

I fell back just to realize the mechs split up with all the scythers going after the skip. I managed to get back to it and get them to turn back around before taking all the mechs out.

And it seems such an adventure got the two of them to hook up! Taking out a frigate with one shot is pretty impressive.

But the real reason I did that was to get some mech components to build up this steel extractor so I can both get steel and get rid of all the stone chunks laying around.

And our raptor buddy is more than happy to help deliver the stone chunks!

Oh dear, apparently Lela isn't happy bios hooked up with Drakenel. Lela had a mana shield though so... bios lost.

Finally a new droid joins the colony, Breadmaster the chefbot. Full time gardening and he can take care of cleaning the colony cause it is loving filthy inside.

That is now 2 ducks who have been struck by lightning.

There, no more threats to the ducks!

God loving dammit Randy :negative:

When this happens I just order a slaughter on every duck, then look at a few and remove the slaughter designation on a few that aren't sick.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DROP ALL THE SHIP CHUNKS!

God sucks for this guy, he actually survived the landing (note the exclamation point to his right) and then an explosive round fell in from space right next to him.

Good god, what did this guy do to deserve this?

Once everything is said and done 55 slag chunks and 10 spaceship chunks land :getin:

Drakenel decides they really want to see the space battle going on above.

Update of how the club is looking. Everyone has their rooms set up now, I just need to finalize how I want the guest bedrooms to be, as well as put in a public bathroom. Then I can finally start bringing the guests in. The lower right and top right are kind of both being the storage and workshop areas, until I can get more automation set up.

The lack of straight, squared off sections is driving me crazy

Also speaking of storage, I get a drop pod launcher set up and throw some of the over 2 thousand copper I got laying around to the nearby hostile factions. I'm not gonna be making anything out of bronze so I don't need that. Buuut it is faster to work with with (120 vs 330 for sandstone blocks) for 10% less beauty, and the colonists want art all over the place...

In fact, let's take a look at one of these sculptures!

Hhhhrrrmmmm

I will admit that I am a coward and a fraud because one of the first things I did after installing VE: Mechanoids was turning off the reinforcing ships.
