Hitman 1. Finally went back and dealt with Colorado, that level took me quite a while to get the hang of. The last level more than made up for it.

Dying Light base campaign. The movement system was really fun, but the campaign was miserable, especially towards the end. Would have liked the game a lot more if I just stuck to dicking around in co-op doing random side quests

They did a good job making it feel like you ramped up in power without making you grind for damage or health. Makes me want to go back and actually finish Sekiro now

Hitman 2. Still need to do a victory lap and clean up the Hitman 1 levels, but this feels like a huge improvement over the first.

Not sure if it's the engine or the design ethos but it was a lot smoother than I remember the previous game being. The Sniper contracts were a pleasant surprise, just wish there were still people doing matchmaking.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (2021)

The last game I'll ever preorder. It shows some promise when you're plowing through hordes of goblins, but they managed to gently caress up the engine bad enough that the game isn't salvageable. Larger enemies like the giants or trolls also break up the flow of combat a bit too much.

It takes 2-3 seconds just to open the pause menu or the character screen, and it gets much worse with multiplayer even after 8 or so patches to address this.

Saint's Row 4. Glad I played this last in the series (not touching Lawbreakers), it's a great capstone.

The traversal system was the best part, they didn't do much to improve the feel of combat though. Surprised they brought back so many characters for this.

Just Cause 4. Much better ending than I remember 3s being, but I don't feel like the "Army of Chaos" mechanic added much to this game.

Amazing engine though. Puts other open world games to shame

Shovel Knight, Shovel of Hope campaign.

Really felt like me and my co-op partner were stepping on each other's toes with this, had to finish it in single player.

Fantastic game though, not sure which campaign to do next.

Got my first clears with the Shield and Gauntlets today. Really had to lean on lucky boons for one of the runs, but the other felt like a satisfying win.
Not my favorite roguelike for sure, but glad to finally beat it.

Finished the main story mode and Libra of Soul. Still need to clean up some post-game stuff like fighting the style masters or doing a 2nd run through Libra for the other ending.

Much easier to get a grasp of than my playthrough of Mortal Kombat this year.

I had real trouble with this first time I played it, but I came back after going through Hitman 1 and 2 and found it pretty straightforward.

Played through on Hard, where they introduce bullet drop and wind, but that hardly seems to matter since you can sim out the bullet trajectory. Enemies also seemed to give up trying to find me way too quick.

I need to try it again on Authentic, but losing both the HUD and the bullet sim is going to be rough.

Pretty enjoyable for a weird spin off. Most of the arenas felt too small to make use of the sniping mechanics, but it was a nice change of pace to be able to plow through a few hundred enemies every level without worrying about your shots being triangulated.

Probably the easiest Castlevania i've played so far. Managed to get the best ending and 100% of the collectibles. I enjoyed the map, though I got stuck for a bit not realizing you had to unseal a specific door for some reason 1st and couldn't just do any of them the key was supposed to work on. Ran through the last half of the game in 1 sitting once I cleared that hurdle.

I had a real tough time with the spear wielding enemies, but I liked most of the boss fights in the game. Especially Dracula and Carmilla.
Only managed to find 1 of the Maidens without having to use a guide. Made it to the 2nd ones "Secret" level, but didn't figure out the gimmick

Yeah I don't know how they managed to pull off a character like Max Hoss either but they did it.

Third person plane/mech combat with a very boring campaign. The gameplay and controls are solid though, and even if the multiplayer is dead at least they fill the matches with Bots. Seems like it would have been some chaotic fun in its heyday

Best open world game I've played so far. Enjoyed the minimalist UI and ability to ignore the map and just do the story stuff ASAP. Last big engagement was a nice test of everything the game taught you to that point

Can't believe I've never touched this series before, this must have been super innovative when it came out. Only had a tiny problem with the camera, rest of the game was fantastic.

This should have been a Visual Novel. The story and characters were fun, but the combat engine was mediocre at best.

31) My Friend Pedro

A very cathartic experience of backflipping off walls, kicking skateboards into peoples faces and mowing down thousands of mooks otherwise ruined by some terrible levels towards the end. Last two bosses were great, but those levels leading up to them were some serious dogshit

32) Earth Defense Force 4.1

Finished the normal difficulty campaign in split-screen with an Air Raider and Wing Diver. Really wish they didn't have extra online only missions, but this is still a solid co-op shooter. Wing Divers viable weapons felt a bit sparse, compared to Air Raider who could easily change their loadout to accomodate different maps or enemy types.

Will probably go back to EDF 5 after this to finish my hard mode run

Ending didn't feel as impactful as the first one, and the ending credits music was abysmal. Combat was a lot better

35) Marvel's Avengers

Could have been great with less Games as a Service design. Took me a while to get used to the different looks and voices for the characters compared to the movies, but I warmed up to them in the end.

She-hulk would have been cool

36) Sonic Forces

I think this is the first Sonic game I've ever beaten. Very cheesy but still fun
