Classic Kevin & Kell in: graduation plans (April 18-24, 2005) We've reached the part of the strip where characters are "aging up," so to speak. When K&K started in 1995, Rudy was 13, Lindesfarne 14, and Coney had just been born; now, ten years later, Lindesfarne's about to graduate high school. There will be more signifiers of time passing in future strips, like (very minor spoilers) Rudy learning to drive, and Coney aging up from a toddler to a young child. We're also past the point where I stopped following this strip daily as it was coming out, so from here on out it's mostly uncharted territory for me. Let's find out what sights it has to show us together! Modern Kevin & Kell

Classic Kevin & Kell in: roommates (April 25 - May 1, 2005) Modern Kevin & Kell Last year these two had sex for the first time in the history of the strip -- you know, despite being twenty-something years old by this point, and being together since they were 13, but details -- which concluded with "yeah, sex is nice, but we're not ready for marriage." Are we getting a wedding arc now?

~Coxy posted:Can you really say True Story (!) if it's a fictional comic strip? To my memory, there's been no previous reference of this in the strip. I think it's Holbrook referring to something that happened to him (or someone he knows) in real life.

Classic Kevin & Kell in: prom (May 9-15, 2005) First appearance: it's blink-and-you miss it, but in the fifth strip for this week (the one about the pig blood bucket), the very first panel is the first appearance of Joan Hoof. Joan (the red-haired mare) is Rachel's girlfriend, and she's a suuuuuuuuper minor character: it's been more than sixteen years since this strip, and she either appeared or was mentioned in a total of forty-two strips since then -- most of them in 2014, when there's an arc where she and Rachel get married. So yeah, she's not anyone of consequence in the strip, I just thought I'd point her out. (Also, characters like Joan are why I don't keep a relationship tree of all K&K characters, only those who have a family or blood relation to the main cast, otherwise I'd go crazy.) Classic Kevin & Kell in: driving lessons (June 6-12, 2005) This is another of those series of strips which point out the characters growing older: Rudy was thirteen at the start of the strip, but now he's sixteen. Also, one thing Holbrook got right: you should really avoid using public wi-fi, unless you're taking appropriate precautions. Modern Kevin & Kell

I'm glad to see Modesty Blaise itt again. Classic Kevin & Kell in: anniversary (September 12-18, 2005) I'll be a pedant and point out that, since for the first year or so the strip was M-F only, it's not the tenth anniversary of continuous appearances. But details. Took us about a year and a half to cover ten years of strips. We have seventeen more years to go. (Though I may stop at the point where Classic K&K becomes Modern K&K, even if I don't know when that'll be.) And, just to note, we're already past the point where I'd stopped reading this strip regularly as it was running, so it's mostly unknown territory for me too going forward. , folks, and let's go. Mercury Hat posted:Wasn't the tree in love with Fenton when it was first introduced? I mean, I'm not hung up on it, but if I have to remember Kevin and Kell plot points instead of my bank account number, I wanna make sure I've got it right. No, the tree had super protective maternal feelings towards Fenton once he made his house in the tree, to the point where it didn't allow anyone to see him. This was a result of rotten wood, and once the gang (mainly Lindesfarne) had Later, the tree started embezzling money from Kevin's business; this, again, was to "help" Fenton, and it was, again, not the tree's fault, it had been driven crazy by all the spam it received on a constant basis through its internet connection. Once the gang installed a spam filter, it all went back to normal. (July 2003.) And no, I don't know all this off the top of my head, I had to go check on the K&K website. (Which, just by the way, is terrible to navigate if you're looking for a specific thing, but that's a gripe for another day.)
