I've been thinking about what I nominate for MOTYC & HM. Last time I updated the right part of my spreadsheet I had 151 MOTYC & 331 HMs. Right now Everything ****¼ & over is MOTYC (HM is ***¾ & ****). Now obviously a match at that level isn't actually in the conversation for MOTY in December unless it's a particularly bad year. But MOTYC doesn't really mean that, it's just "this match is great & you should check it out". Even still, I've been contemplating changing it so **** & ****¼ are HM & above that is MOTYC, which would mean a much more fair 54 MOTYC nominations, & 211 HM. At the same time though, I stand by recommending those ***¾ matches, it is absolutely worth watching Andrade vs Darby Allin or Ibuki Hoshi vs Rina Amikura or M3K vs Aagan Iisou.

Ultimately, if you think a match is bad, fine. I'm pretty sure I've nominated more AEW WMOTYCs than anyone else, & ain't no one convincing me to take away the ***** I gave Lindaman vs Irie. Thread has 49 MOTYCs for AEW, I have 10. It's fine. Enjoy what you like. Personally I'd like it if people would explain why they think something is bad enough to be WMOTYC but you don't have to.

I genuinely admire you forkboy and what you do. I honestly think this thread would make so much more sense for AEW biases if, rather than HM or MOTY alone you had to assign a star rating to that match and it might make people less trigger happy to nominate every best match on the card that week when it's at best a 3 and a half stars even to them.
