I just finished yesterday's NJPW Strong, my first time watching the show. It was pretty good! The main event was kinda clunky and awkward but I liked the first two matches quite a bit. For whatever reason I've been reluctant to add Strong to my weekly viewing rotation but I think I'll be following it from now on, it was a breezy watch and at least as enjoyable as the average Dark or Elevation. Avalon/Rosser should be a hoot.

Strong doesn't have as many high highs as some shows but it's consistently good with some excellent matches now and then. Eddie Kingston vs. Gabriel Kidd, Rosser vs. Lawlor III, Ishii vs. Lawlor, Desperado vs. Hiromu vs. Blake Christian, and the Strong Tag Team Title Tournament Final were some highlights over the last few months. Riccaboni and Koslov are a better commentary team than Kevin Kelly and Koslov were (or maybe Alex just toned it down over time) but Peter Avalon was a great addition this week. Robert Pescado!

sometimes i look forward to STRONGs unique blend of uh, strong wrestling and indie workrate more than normal nooj shows. sometimes its nice to not have to deal with 3 hours of multimans if ur just in the mood to see people get clocked at a high wrestling frame rate. if u can deal with no crowds KENTA vs. mox for the us heavy is one of my favourite matches of all time ever for some reason

Last year was different as the NJPW/NOAH show did not give away the potential results of any of Wrestle Kingdom matches What’s weird is that if I remember correctly they are running their first New Beginning show in Nagoya the next day, so they’ll probably announce the lineup for that show as well, but it’s certainly a choice to run WK and New Beginning over the same weekend, with NB running against Final Mutoh Bye-Bye in Tokyo Dome.
