SamuraiFoochs posted:Didn't his alcohol abuse do some (like, actually known) damage to his heart? I could see that maybe being an issue vis a vis blood flow and whatnot. Either way absolutely heartbreaking. Yeah, he had a defibrillator and pacemaker put in back in 2010. Pretty much any surgery is going to run this risk and the worse your overall health the higher the risk. It's heartbreaking when stuff like that catches up.

Uhhh RAW just opened up with an In Memory Of graphic while there hasn't been an update that he's actually passed. Seems... pretty hosed up.

Crossposting from the "vince mcmahon is old" thread in GBS: For some reason I'd forgotten that I actually got to see Scott Hall work live once, back in 1997. I was doing some contract work in North Carolina and I ended up going to a Nitro airing, it was just after Curt Hennig had betrayed the Horsemen and joined the nWo. Here's the match I got to see Hall in, a WCW tag title defense with Hall & Nash (c) vs. Wrath & Mortis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoH3K5YjXZA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISegp7kk-ms When I was a teenager in the 1980s, I was a huge wrestling fan and the Apter mags always had articles on him, whether he was in the AWA or his stint in the JCP-era NWA/Turner's WCW in the late 1980s/early 1990s. And then of course I used to watch him a lot as Razor Ramon, and definitely when he was the founding member of the nWo in WCW. There'll never be another like him.

Razor Ramon was my favorite from 94-96 and as a kid I was pretty upset to learn he left the WWF. Was always sad that he never won a world title, but he was a legend anyway. RIP Scott Hall, I'm glad he was able to make peace with his demons before the end.

This feels especially sad because when you see somebody turn their lives around like Hall there's the hope and the assumption that they added years to their lives. But sometimes the damage done is too great I guess.

At least his final act in the ring was showing he had gotten healthy enough to take a bump. Not quite Sting's resurgence but amazing considering the circumstances. So something good came from that match at least.

I got great joy out of pretending to be Razor Ramon when I was wrestling my wrestling buddies as a kid and telling the imaginary timekeeper "You take care of my gold or I'm gonna take care of you" when I'd hand off my chincy little Razor Ramon necklace with the giant fake gold razor blade.
