https://twitter.com/SeanRossSapp/status/1480012126118989829 ROLL CALL OF CURRENT CHAMPIONS Impact World Champion: Moose The conniving Moose successfully defended his title against Matt Cardona and W. Morrissey, two guys I wouldn't have put the belt on anyway. Josh Alexander, having slain JONAH, is still looking for another title match, and I'd expect for that match to happen unless something even screwier happens. Impact World Tag Team Champions: The Good Brothers The titles weren't defended at Hard to Kill, and in addition Karl Anderson got pinned by Heath. Putting two and two together, Heath & Rhino are the obvious #1 contenders, but the ROH invasion might side-track things. Impact X Division Champion: Trey Miguel In another dragon-slaying, Miguel finally put Steve Maclin in the rear view mirror after FINALLY giving Maclin his first pinfall loss in the promotion. No obvious challengers at the moment. Impact Knockouts Champion: Mickie James I don't know how, but James has beaten Deonna Purrazzo....TWICE. She's also going to be in the Royal Rumble, which means this title is on the level as the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship. That's what WWE gets for firing all those ladies! Tasha Steelz is #1 Contender, by virtue of winning Ultimate X45. Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champions: The IInspiration These titles also weren't defended, as Jessie McKay and Cassie Lee came into contact with someone who later tested positive for COVID-19. I'd assume the Influence get their title match at the next available opportunity. Impact Digital Media Champion: Jordynne Grace It's hard to keep track of this belt's defenses, given that by its very name you're not going to see it on TV very much. NEXT PAY-PER-VIEW EVENT: REBELLION Live from Poughkeepsie, New York, on April 23.

I really only watch the PPVs, but I thought W. Morrissey looked great, especially compared to where he was a year ago. Belongs fine in Impact, got to look strong.

Quoting from previous thread: coconono posted:Between the commentary improvement and the ROH invasion angle, Impact is a helluva show right now. Josh Alexander's contract is up next month, but I assume he's re-signing. If there's a main eventer to build Impact around during an upswing, it's him.

Yeah, if JONAH had beaten Alexander I'd have come to the assumption he would be leaving. Making him tap out makes me think he's staying put.

Yeah, I was confused a bit as to why JONAH lost so definitively so quickly into his time in the company, but if they're 1) keeping Josh and 2) giving Josh the belt back soon/eventually it makes more sense

They still have a very strong low to mid level heel boss with JONAH despite this loss (he was still able to give the upper card babyface trouble before being dispatched).

AEW has kind of plateaued for me so seeing Impact try to repeat the 2006 formula is a real treat right now. Spotfests Garbage matches Goofy rulesets Kickass babes These are the ingredients for a coconono approved wrestling show

I said this in the discord as well but it goes to show you how undervalued good commentary is in wrestling right now. Tom Philips is a massive improvement over Striker/Matthews and it made the show much more watchable.

The amount of times they mentioned the Royal Rumble during Mickie's match is a tad worrying. I wonder what Impact gets in return for the cross-promotion. On a scale of zero to exactly once, how many times do you think WWE commentary mentions Impact when Mickie enters?

Why would you bring in Vincent? That is so baffling as to be fascinating Also the ROH watcher in me is so mad that Vincent is working with the OGK after spending so much time in a blood feud with Taven. I appreciate I'm the only one who cares about this respect for 2021 ROH.

Seriously. Bring in Shane Taylor? Dak Draper? Bandido? Dalton Castle? Pretty much anyone else on the ROH roster?

Probably barely anything because she's not under an exclusive deal, so anything they get is what Mickie negotiated. There is a reason the company is in freefall right now.

my guess is WWE demanded Mickie be a champ going into the rumble because that would be a WWE thing to do.

Renee's interview with Tom dropped today and he's: a) a long time TNA / Impact viewer, and b) a dude that loves to be prepared and it shows. The deal was made in the last 2 months, he made it seem like some people that he used to work with before put in a good word to Impact's management. I choose to believe that even the talent was sick of Striker. Unsurprisingly, the (still) relaxed schedule was one of the big selling points for him. https://twitter.com/IMPACTWRESTLING/status/1480962721273331716 20 years.

For better or worse the DNA of TNA (the non-Matt Morgan kind) will always be a part of Impact. If they can keep up not loving up like they used to any time they had any sort of good-will, I think they can easily carve out a spot for themselves again as the "get your reps in / re-establish yourself" place for some people and an actual destination for others. https://twitter.com/DeonnaPurrazzo/status/1480720598473052160?s=20

Barring some other billionaire starting up a new company, or one of the top 2 folding, Impact is probably the ceiling for a lot of wrestlers right now. Who do you think is going to be an Impact lifer? I feel like Eddie Edwards has picked his spot and probably isn't a hot enough commodity to move up, though he could always go back to NOAH. Impact is also probably Morrissey's ceiling, because I don't see AEW being that into him, and WWE probably isn't really hurting for another Big Cass run unless they want to pull a Drew McIntyre with him and wait until he improves. And if he doesn't go back to ROH when it relaunches, Chris Sabin's probably in Impact for the long haul at this point.

Unless NJPW comes calling, almost all of their physically bigger guys would probably stay put given other options. I can't see a wrestler like Moose going to WWE or AEW.
