It turns out it's not a good idea to be broadcasting live (likely from your studio despite claiming you're at home) while your lawyer is claiming you're too sick to do a deposition.

Lol he was actually broadcasting from his studio (and also refused to show up to his deposition today)

quote:

Far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has breached a court order by failing to show up for a deposition in a lawsuit over his false claims about the Sandy Hook massacre, after a judge rebuffed claims that he was too sick to appear.

The Infowars host was scheduled to appear in person at 9am local time in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday to be questioned under oath as part of settlement proceedings in defamation cases he lost against the families of victims killed in the 2012 mass shooting.

But, Mr Jones was a no-show, instead sending along one of his attorneys Norm Pattis, who delivered the news that his client would not be making an appearance.

Connecticut Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis has now ordered Mr Jones to appear for the deposition on Thursday, saying that “he has not submitted additional evidence for the court to evaluate on the issue of his alleged medical conditions”.

The victims’ families have also filed an emergency motion asking the court to arrest the right-wing extremist for civil contempt and bring him to the court to testify if he fails to show up once again.
...
On Wednesday, Mr Jones’ attorney admitted to the court that the radio host was broadcasting his show live during Tuesday’s court hearing.

He said that the show was broadcast from Mr Jones’ studio in Austin which “is not located in Mr Jones’ home” - casting doubts on the doctor’s letter that he is staying home.

Alex Jones is now claiming that the incredibly deadly thing that totally stopped him from doing a deposition was ... a sinus infection
https://twitter.com/AP/status/1507719786712776704

quote:

Jones returned to the Infowars studio on Friday for the first time since Tuesday and disclosed on the show that medical testing showed he had a sinus infection. He said he had experienced vertigo, and his doctors initially thought it was a serious heart problem and advised him to stay home and not go to the deposition.

“[P]laintiff Carlee Soto Parisi rejects in full the Jones Defendants’ offer of compromise filed on March 29, 2022,” the first such reply states. “The so-called offer is a transparent and desperate attempt by Alex Jones to escape a public reckoning under oath with his deceitful, profit-driven campaign against the plaintiffs and the memory of their loved ones lost at Sandy Hook.”

I think Alex thinks that the protection from prosecution will apply to his civil cases. It just seems very inline with how his broke brain thinks the world works in that if you're working for the Feds, you're untouchable.

I don't think Jones knew much in advance because he was very clearly shaken and worried about the ramifications of what happened. It could be possible that he didn't think it would fail but I think it's mainly the fact he's a crazy coward, like most bullies, and wanted to just speak to an energized crowd and not do a pathetic coup attempt.

EDIT:

This also after he said that Donald Trump had asked him personally to lead this rally and that it was all him.

Yeah he was clearly in a panicked mode of "you're just supposed to listen and cheer me on for calling for revolution over the stolen election you aren't actually supposed to do anything" as opposed to Owen Shroyer who was loving loving it

The depositions are great because every one of them follows the exact same process despite it being like five different people being deposed. The infowars person will say they haven't prepared and don't remember everything. They will then be lead down q path that leads to them directly claiming not to know something or straight out lying about something extremely specific, only to be hit with an email or prior deposition that directly proves they were lying. Despite falling for this once, they will then proceed to do it four or five or more times, its like they think because they didn't prepare that the other side wouldn't do so either. Mixed in with this will be several times where in trying to avoid a question they will freely offer up other information that is worse foe them than if they just answered the original question.

It happens every single time, it's like they share one brain

It’s like, I’m taken aback any time anyone does that, right? But as far as [West], I knew that that was in him because when he came to TMZ, he said that stuff and they took it out of the interview. … He said something like, ‘I love Hitler, I love Nazis.’ Something to that effect when he was there. And they took it out of the interview for whatever reason. It wasn’t my decision.”

Total nonsense, Alex had already filed for bankruptcy before the interview and it would be an insanely tiny amount to the amount he owes from the lawsuit. Also it was personal bankruptcy, not the company bankruptcy (which was filed months ago) and the company would be the one paying the bill anyway.
