Holy poo poo, Dan was at the loving deposition? The podcast is actively working with legal counsel to take Alex Jones down? I don't know why but this is blowing my mind today.

BiggerBoat posted:I really enjoy looking back years later on things that were published with the benefit of hindsight and within that immediate context. SO MANY of us forget poo poo that we thought, said or wrote a decade later. Occasionally, I'll wind up re-reading something I posted 6 years ago or whatever and realize how stupid (or smart) I was. I'll go through my journal or whatever and see how naive and silly I was (or occasionally prescient). They think it DID happen. They think that there are and were FEMA death camps just off-screen at every major disaster, that Obama is still secretly in charge from the shadows, that both the 2016 and 2020 elections were rigged (but Trump was so strong he won anyway once), that gay marriage is the reason for the recent inflation and also COVID and also the terrible weather, that Sharia Law was implemented in most major cities and downtown Detroit is a no-go zone where Christians are executed on sight, and that two dozen cops are murdered by black gangs in every liberal city every week and it just doesn't get reported on. The reason you get January 6th and COVID-denialists and basically the last decade is that approximately 30-40% of the country has constructed a vivid fantasy world that they live every waking moment in and when reality tries to intrude they scream until it goes away. Marsupial Ape posted:Whenever I suggest KF to somebody, that's the podcast I start them with. "Ok, there's going to be a left turn in there. I am not saying when or what it is, but text me when it takes that turn". That was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had listening to a podcast, because I had just listened to the Dollop episode on The Pendragon of Marin a couple of weeks before, where they cover the entire crime spree with only an off-hand comment about someone getting into UFOs later. So I started listening to Knowledge Fight, but Mark Richards is such an absolutely generic name that it didn't even ring a bell, and I got almost all of the way through KF's episode when either Dan or Kerry made an off-hand remark about Marin county, and I had to stop and think "Hey, why do I know that place name? That's in California, isn't it? Wait.... wait.... OH NO.....!" and everything slipped sideways.

Sir Tonk posted:Shows that the people following the cult leader tend to be more dangerous. Most cult leaders are scam artists at heart, but the followers are true believers or they would have left eventually. I think the endless debate over “true believer vs grifter” can be tiresome and unproductive; the real thing that separates Jones from his followers was that, up until recently, he had very finely honed instincts about where the true legal danger lines were and he almost always managed to brush up against them instead of crossing them. That’s why you saw him beat feet very early on Jan 6th. Daria is clearly someone who doesn’t even know that lines exist at all. It’s not just the things she said in depositions, it’s the fact that she repeated them in court despite clearly being coached not to by her lawyer.

Maynard v. Bankston et al posted:Upon receiving Mr. Gill’s notes I contacted Mr. Bankston, whom I had never met and never even heard of, asking if he would talk to me. He responded, “Never contact me again, you weirdo, LOL.” These exchanges are labeled as Exhibit C, from the disciplinary proceeding (in Exhibit 2). Absolute King.

The owner of the shop said ol' Bill there predicted lots of profound things so thats why the government killed him. gently caress. That's what that book looks like? I have seen that exact cover before on someone's shelf. Now I have to try to remember who I know is an absolute lunatic.
