That ESPN sketch was too good, real shame it got cut. I'm not even a sports media watcher and that stuff is still hilarious to me.

Willem Dafoe and Katy Perry wrap up our pre-Olympics run tonight. While this is Dafoe's debut, this marks Perry's entry into the 5-Timers Club!

The show posted a couple candids of Katy on Home Base yesterday and I'm required to share them here.

Our Thursday promos. Thankfully no air-only spots this week.

Katy Perry will be performing these songs tonight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-4YMlihRf4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEb5gNsmGJ8

And we may just get a visit from an old favourite tonight, if he can get away from mentoring youth groups for a few hours. We may also actually get a PDD short on the air this week, fingers crossed.

For Vintage, we continue making you feel old with our "That Was Ten Years Ago??" series from S37: Channing Tatum and Bon Iver, from February 4 2012.

And that does it up. We return live after the Olympics on February 26 :argh:

Doubly so considering that Dafoe is rumoured to have a gigantic hog, so he probably could actually do it (and probably has, and remembered fondly during the sketch).

I'm kind of in the same boat, I know SNL has been trying hard to recapture Lonely Island energy since Samburg left, but Mooney and Bennet just couldn't deliver, so I get going either them. But nepotism aside, they're not going to catch on if they don't ever move out of their sad soft boy comfort zone.

I think maybe I'm just too old? Some of them are funny but they aren't really relatable anymore, I don't have weird 20s anxieties or energy anymore, so it's more recognition of jokes than laughing at them often. Also a bit odd they are sequestered to themselves, is this like a compromise instead of breaking up the Lonely Island crew or Good Neighbor, just stick em together off-site somewhere? Good enough to do their comfortable preexisting dynamic, good enough to write for the show, but not enough to be on stage or do the bow?

edit: oh yeah disagree mooney and bennet don't deliver. i'm more thinking about the third guy from both crews who didn't get on the show as a face.

They were making ~content~ as a group before they joined SNL. I imagine their connections allowed them to retain some agency over their content since Lorne has final say on what goes in.

Another way to think of it is that it's the modern version of TV Funhouse? Lonely Island was like this too, but Andy being in the main cast blurred the lines.

Not really much to say about it, just rewatched it because Will Forte hosting reminded me that it exists.
