I do feel like there's no way we avoid finding out something about Ted's final fate, even if it's just him going mad inside his pyramid in a few logs before he died foreve rago, because you need to go there for some special passkey or something. Gameplay wise I'm most excited about a glider. Love using them in games.

I do like how Sylens does kind of represent the story Elisabet told at the end with the tree, because while he is extremely smart, motivated, and curious, he also has almost no empathy outside of what helps him learn more.

Also a good percent of societies we see do their best to avoid old world locations which Sylens openly hates, and I do wonder how that officially started and we got the more tribal situation we see today, as the original people who left the vault were a bunch of teenagers in modern for the time clothes. It's kind of surprising they managed to get a few working societies in the first place instead of them all dying because they didn't know how to make fire.

On some level Sylens wouldn’t want to completely make it so Aloy is completely antagonistic to him, considering she’s basically a living password with no real substitute for him

I would only accept changes to her grappling jump animation if she went further with it, like and extra flip.

It doesn’t work for me in every game, but the games where it does at that little bit of natural adjustment where if I use a stick I’ll overdo it the aiming does feel really nice

I’m so impressed by the faces in this game, it’s like they saw the complaints with the first game and went “oh yeah? The next game every single face will look amazing”

There's definitely been times in fights with multiple machines where the get knocked down/spend time getting up/get knocked down before you can really do anything loop kept happening to me. It feels like they tried to nerf just charging up a power attack and knocking robots over, but I think too many robots go for leap that end in additional thrashing, where your dodge isn't enough to get out of the way.

The beach race I keep getting hit by other racers and clipping into the ground. I’m not huge on the races though, they feel too crowded and you’re hit way too often.

I just beat Thebes, and while I don't think the raw catharsis is there intentionally, I do like the final story of Ted Faro a lot, because it's a hell of his own creation, and the person who designed themselves after him gets to eat poo poo too. Also I think the fake out of "There's people on Far Zenith who are the same people who left on it is there to partially make people think that when you would see Faro's compound, that he could be around too, and then you see how Ted kept himself alive at any cost and how it turned him into a monster is such a good ending for him. Not even seeing what he became is good too, because I do think it is one of those things where it's better to the imagination than anything they could design and model themselves.

The final fight with The Enduring was easier than both two of the trial bosses for me, because they either never let up and I couldn't dodge any further, or they just tanked a hit and hit me for 40% of my health right there.

I would say up to level 25-30 you should be fine for most missions if you're stocked up, it's the ones higher than that where you're almost guaranteed to fight one of the top robots.

On the final mission Erend and his hammer could reliably take on Spectres, but that was the tail end of the game. A little thing about the ending I thought funny was Sylens trying to take credit for Aloy thwarting his plans, and that he knew she would do that and succeed so it's his fault she won. His not leaving made sense though, as much as he's an insensitive dick who only cares about himself, I think at the same time he needs to know he's smarter than everyone else, which can't happen if he's the only person left alive.

I think this was in the first game and isn’t a unique problem, but some jumps where you could land in the middle instead Aloy jumps in a way where it forces her to hit the lowest point, and it makes me think I missed the jump entirely

I think Sylens staying makes sense because as much as he wants knowledge he also has to be the smartest guy in the room, and if everyone else is dead he can't hold that over them.

Alhazred posted:But Sylen's plan sucks too. People who are subjugated by force doesn't tend to be willing to die for their leader. The most likely scenario would be that conquered tenakth would take one look at the oncoming spectres and see it as a way to get rid of Regalla by abandoning her. I think it’s partially Sylens has to be smarter and be smug over someone else, and if he’s the only person left he loses that
