It definitely feels more like a "watch on your own time and possibly installments" movie. For me it was the first Hobbit movie. I just felt old my rear end was sore from some bad theater seats. Meanwhile back in the oughts I literally sat on the floor next to my friend who was in a wheelchair and there was no handicapped seating so I watched Return of the King against the back wall.
