Then whose driving the car?

Having now driven the car I can say it was extremely good. If I had known it was a Murakami adaption I probably wouldn't have gone seeing as that dude can't write for poo poo, but having actors put some semblance of emotion in his work brought it to life. Really did think it would be more of a road trip movie than it was though.

Which is fine, I like those types of movies too but I'm kind of surprised so many people are finding DMC an even remotely challenging film.

I cannot imagine how people are finding a movie that constantly cuts into a play explaining the emotions the peeps are feeling as challenging. It's good, but not difficult at all.

As for the 10 that did get nominated? Drive My Car is not a bad movie, but it belongs in the international feature category, not here, just like Parasite did.

It's insane to me that people still think like this

To be fair Parasite was mid

So people are just assuming Power of the Dogis going to win because it feels like it's going to, right? Cause that movie has nothing going for it. I've not seen such an uninteresting look at masculinity before, and I hope to not again.

Power of Dog literally has a gay man dying of a blood-transmitted disease after having a gay experience with a man pretending to be gay. Its treatment of gayness is weird and to me… kinda toxic? I think it swims in enough ambiguity to avoid accusations of this nature. But it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I was actually gonna defend the film for a second but, to paraphrase the last words his brother says "I don't understand he was always careful to avoid diseased ones" I'm not gay so I'm not gonna speak for em, but I think this films going to be seen very different in the future

Of the ones I've seen I'd rank it

1.Drive My Car
2.Licorice Pizza
3.Power of The Dog

I'm really rooting for Drive My Car, it's the only one I've seen that felt emotionally moving. Licorice Pizza was great, I saw it a double digit number of times in theaters, but if PTA wins for that it wouldn't feel right. It's pretty slight compared to most of his oeuvre. Power of The Dog was awful, I felt so aware that I was in a theater the entire time, Dunst was totally wasted on such an amateur portrayal of alcoholism. Plemons barely existed for most the film, and the kid seemed confused if he was portraying a Nerdy Student, Norman Bates, or an Area 51 escapee. Cumberbatch was the best probably but the role he was playing was poorly conceived.

Which bond movies are legit good and worth the time of non-fans? Scrolling through the list would it be Goldfinger, Goldeneye, Casino Royale, Skyfall? I haven’t seen them all were the Dalton ones good?

Hunts stuff isn't for everybody but calling it outright bad is crazy. Especially for the time he brought so much more dynamism into the franchise. Look at the assault on the piz gloria, just an entire perfect action scene involving every principal character.

People come at the marvel movies because they're terrible, which they are. And are then countered by a "just don't watch them" but the drat things are sucking up all the oxygen in Hollywood. Promising directors are getting sucked up into making lovely hero movies, or live action Disney copyright holders instead of being allowed to make anything they'd like. Streaming is the only ones with money taking risks. But God only knows for how long.
