Here's an eerie video of someone recording the shelling in Ukraine. Really shows the reality of war.
I vaguely remember my grandparents tell me stories of growing up on the Eastern Front during WWI. To actually see the kind of stuff they lived with is something else.

There's also this article from November 2021 that quotes former NATO head George Robertson

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/04/ex-nato-head-says-putin-wanted-to-join-alliance-early-on-in-his-rule

quote:

George Robertson, a former Labour defence secretary who led Nato between 1999 and 2003, said Putin made it clear at their first meeting that he wanted Russia to be part of western Europe. “They wanted to be part of that secure, stable prosperous west that Russia was out of at the time,” he said.

The Labour peer recalled an early meeting with Putin, who became Russian president in 2000. “Putin said: ‘When are you going to invite us to join Nato?’ And [Robertson] said: ‘Well, we don’t invite people to join Nato, they apply to join Nato.’ And he said: ‘Well, we’re not standing in line with a lot of countries that don’t matter.’”

Apparently several Russian news agencies, including some state owned ones, published an editorial yesterday thanking Putin for “forever solving the Ukrainian question. The editorials were all quickly taken down but were archived.

It looks like they were prescheduled based on the assumption of a quick victory and installation of a puppet regime.

Other than some posts on the first day where the Russian MoD claimed to have completely wiped out Ukraine's AA defense and also claimed to be launching an amphibious landing, I haven't really seen anything from them. I've seen lots of stuff from random people who support Russia and of course the usually statements from government officials and news broadcasts.

Is Russia no longer putting out social media claims aimed at the west or are they just not being amplified?

Regarding the 800 vehicle convoy, I took it to mean that it was made up of some armored vehicles, supply, logistics, troop carriers etc. The UA probably just targeted the armored vehicles to neutralize the convoys offensive capability. I don’t believe they destroy all 800 vehicles.

My grandparents spoke Polish, they had some Ukrainian speaking people move in next to them. They couldn't read or write each others languages (Latin vs Cyrillic alphabets) but my grandparents said they could speak to each other and understand each other. They said it wasn't perfect and they had to speak slowly to each other but they could make themselves understood.

I noticed in the video clip that Zelensky's office posted where he visited wounded soldiers in the hospital, they were very careful to only show certain soldiers even though you could see there were many of them in the ward. In fact, they blurred at least one of the soldier's faces. I wonder if the he was an international volunteer along with the other's they didn't show.
