It's a fantastic game OP, a fantastic sequel to a legendary game, incredible music and setting and vibe, big twists, lots of characters that you may or may not run into to recruit based on your choices, and an awesome battle system. It rules

How does it hold up in 2022 with its "quality-of-life" and its politics

I never got into CC as much as I feel like I should since Chrono Trigger is my favorite game of all time and I felt like a sequel could never live up to it but I’ve always wanted to give it another chance and I probably will when the remaster comes out. The soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal though and it’s one of the best looking games on PS1

i dont like chrono cross but it tries to be very different from ct in every way (some to its benefit some not) which i respect. also the soundtrack is 100% killer and i heard mitsuda direct a live symphonic performance of time's scar that was completely Epic

It's a really good game where the graphics and sound smooth over some rough edges. The battle system is interesting but feels unfinished since the game rarely challenges you to use it effectively. The story is cool though It takes forever to reveal any connection to chrono trigger and it comes in the form of a confusing info dump that only psycho chrono heads will understand. Actually the whole plot is kind of confusing because you're going back and forth between alternate worlds

Salt in the wound eases the soul.
My friend played it on a large CRT in our shared appartement. He kept his computer on the floor and didn't have any chairs because he was planning to become a martial arts monk in Korea.

Thats my CC story I guess - it looked nice.

If you're gonna play it for the first time play the DS remake (just don't bother with any of the extras they added).

I've played almost all the Chrono Trigger versions and the Steam/Phone (updated) versions are serviceable, though if you're gonna sit down on your PC and play you might as well rom the SNES or DS versions.
