Forgot to post the composite this week, had family issues going on, but Ill make sure to have that compiled (or at least steal it from rivals if I get lazy) going forward.

V:
Fun little game. We all know its impossible to go undefeated, not surprised it was Sunday starter that someone got to. Texas looks really scary this year, they might run the wire as #1. Of the top three (Texas, Stanford, Ole Miss), easily the best loss this week.

Speaking of those other two, they were both one run away from losing a series this weekend, Stanford to CSU Northridge and Ole Miss to UCF. Would have been crazy to see a major series loss in the top three this week IMO.

Biggest upset this weekend (outside of #7 NC State being swept, already mentioned in thread) is composite #6 Oklahoma State losing their weekend series to Gonzaga. Game three hasnt been played yet, its tomorrow, but they lost two one-run decisions on Friday and Saturday.

Arkansas survived a scare against Southeast Louisiana. Got hit around on Friday in a 7-3 loss, followed by two wins in a double header on Saturday. Kole Ramage, who long time posters may remember pitching for Arkansas in the cursed game against Oregon State, is supposed to be the big bad closer to replace Kopps but struggled a bit. We will see how that develops. Seems like the pitching situation has flipped from last year: think Arkansas has a solid starting rotation, now its figuring out the bullpen piece.

Remembering the dropped foul and hurting

In MSU news, we beat Texas Tech pretty convincingly last night which helps right the ship a little. Got another game with them tonight I think.

Sims got injured last weekend, and the rumor is that hes likely out for the season and done as a dawg. Cant be too upset for us considering how instrumental he was in helping us win it all last year. Just hope hes still able to make it in the first round!

The season so far has been rocky to say the least. Bats have been extremely streaky, but thats been typical for us the last few years early in the season. Starting pitching was a bright spot, but Sims getting hurt doesnt help. Our bullpen has been shockingly bad at times.

Still a lot of season left, but this is a team that looks like wed be lucky to host a regional currently.

UF put big runs up in a double header against maybe the worst team in college ball yesterday, then promptly dropped the rubber match to give Seton Hall their first victory.

We might steal some games this year and maybe make some noise in a regional but I dont see CWS makings here outside of Fabian, Halter and Barco.

So this was this past weeks' composite poll

2	Ole Miss (13-2) (Prev: 4)	137
3	Texas (13-4) (Prev: 1)	136
4	Notre Dame (11-1) (Prev: 5)	128

7	Arkansas (11-3) (Prev: 8)	110
8	Georgia Tech (13-3) (Prev: 11)	100
9	LSU (13-3) (Prev: 10)	97
10	Stanford (9-5) (Prev: 3)	87
11	Florida (13-4) (Prev: 12)	85
12	Florida State (10-5) (Prev: 14)	80
13	Liberty (12-2) (Prev: 13)	75
14	Virginia (14-1) (Prev: 15)	74
15	Oklahoma State (9-6) (Prev: 9)	68
16	North Carolina (14-2) (Prev: 18)	61
17	Texas Tech (14-3) (Prev: 17)	60
18	Arizona (12-4) (Prev: 16)	57
19	Clemson (14-1) (Prev: 21)	48
20	Georgia (13-3) (Prev: 19)	43
21	Texas State (14-3) (Prev: NR)	27
22	TCU (11-4) (Prev: 23)	26
23	Maryland (12-2) (Prev: NR)	19
24	Gonzaga (11-4) (Prev: 24)	12
t25	Miss State (10-7) (Prev: NR)	8
t25	Old Dominion (13-1) (Prev: NR)	8

Also Receiving Votes: Purdue 7, Miami (FLA) 5, UConn 3, USC 2, UCLA 1

Dropped out: UCLA, NC State, Tulane
Quick thoughts:

Biggest news was #4 Notre Dame getting swept at Louisville. 16-11, 8-1, 7-5, yikes. Other top 25 series losses included #8 Georgia Tech (1-2 vs Wake Forest, including a 27-7 loss), #9 LSU (vs A&M), #10 Stanford (0-2 @ Arizona), #19 Clemson (1-2, Miami (Fla)), and #25 Mississippi State (1-2 @Georgia)

Ole Miss had a weird weekend, beating Auburn twice by 7 and 13 but losing the Saturday game by 14. Didn't watch it but that's a little strange to me! Real Jekyl/Hyde situation, might have to keep tabs on them. Midweek loss to SE Louisiana, not that that super matters?

Texas lost another midweek game, again doesnt super matter (probably) but does show the future that Texas has right now is a little weak. More experience / transfers can fix that, so no reason to panic yet for Texas fans (especially as, again, midweek games are more of a future indicator than anything) but could be a ~narrative~.

Mississippi State will probably slide out of the top 25 losing a series at Georgia, but man are they scary. Lost 11-0, came back and lost a close one 12-11, then absolutely pasted Georgia to the tune of 20-3. I would hate to be their next conference opponent, which is...*checks notes* Alabama. Phew.

kayakyakr

Tech split a weather-shortened 2-game series with Iowa. Blew em out the first game, but a reliever gave up 4 in an inning in the 2nd game and the bats weren't there to respond.

Tadlock throws a lot of arms out in non-conference and will let a reliever struggle through an innning and give up some games like this, so I'm not too worried. Tech has definitely righted the ship after that disastrous first weekend.

Midweek vs a pasty, and then we kick off conference hosting Texas at home. That's a huge tone-setter series.

We could definitely drop the next two but that game was an rear end kicking.

Chase Burns is just so drat good. On the road against the #1 team he struck out 11 and only gave up 2 hits and a run. And hes a freshman.

On the other side the lead up to this series was that the only reason the Vols had so many HRs (58 going into the game) was because we have a small park. Well they hit 5 home runs and scored 12.

Out closer comes in and its the guy that has the wicked mustache. His nickname is Vollie Fingers.

Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and Tennessee were the teams to get 1st place votes. Texas managed 2nd without any 1st votes because of the small spread (high 2 low 4) compared to Ole Miss ( 1 / 8) or Tennessee (1/7)

After that video posted, though, I dont think Texas will stick to #2 lol

Vandy lost to SCAR yesterday as well. Two more days of baseball to be played but I think Tennessee might well be composite #1 next week

I am grateful Arkansas took care of business against a more resilient than I hoped Mizzou team. Connor Noland seems to have settled in as our Friday dude overall even if that wasn't his strongest outing, and Tygart out of the bullpen seems to have claimed the closer role. Pitching was the big question mark this year with losing Pallette, surely our Friday starter, to TJ, and Kopps going to por ball, but think we might be ok.

I would say everyone should watch Tenn @ Ole Miss game 2 tonight, but... basketball, you know?

Anyway for those that didn't watch, Ole Miss had Kiffin come out and throw the first pitch, which he did with a golf ball:

Lane was fine getting off the field under his own power and didn't seem to have any cramping issues.

Later a Tennessee player was seen with a bottle of mustard:
