This qualifying is already better than all of last season. Bottas almost a loving second ahead of pretty boy George Russell. Haas in Q3 (and ahead of George). Someone other than Max qualifying first. Only way it could have been better is if it was Sainz.

Yeah, it's something I don't quite understand about F1 (versus endurance sports). Moving past the lower ranked teams who have pay drivers/etc, the top teams like Ferrari/Mercedes/RB should pretty much have their pick of the absolute best drivers in the world. The fact that there's so much of a difference between the 1 and 2 drivers is something I don't quite understand. In other elite sports, you can measure differences in fractions of a percent.

In the US, seems like default f1tv feed is Palmer/Edwards, while international is crofty/brundle. Sounds like it may be reversed in some countries?

Yeah, without the SC/RB retirements Mercedes would have barely been in the top 5. I'm wondering what to think of the tire degradation that race. iirc the tire choices were skewed all the way towards soft, so even the hard tire was on the "medium" spectrum for that race. Honestly more pit stops makes things more interesting, so I'm hopeful the tires just wear more this season.
