In college I wanted to do a short presentation in a linguistics class on how I thought the cut-up technique is representative of how random elements occur in human populations that can sometimes lead to shifts in how language changes and develops. In modern times this includes things like memes. The professor said he had no clue what I was talking about and said no. He was probably right.
