From what I heard, it was mostly Mendel's idea, but nonetheless the entire band promoted it for at least 3 years.

I mean, I don't like it, but thinking that Mendel was the main proponent makes me feel a little better about the whole thing.

In less depressing news, Wasting Light is a pretty underrated album.
