There's a fair amount of recycled sketches that use the same premise and roles, like the cake competition.

Kate's "kid in a romantic situation talking to his friend on the phone" character has come up three times but I don't know if they have a name.

That kid on the phone was only done twice? I think? TBH I barely remember the first, I think it was the Carey Mulligan show?

Don't forget the recurring premise of "hey everyone in this social group, let's sing this song we all know!" (Plays a song nobody knows) that's been done 5 or 6 times since S40. Maybe earlier?

I know it wouldn't have been possible, but I wish Kyle Mooney had brought in his eponymous character that stumbles over his words while interviewing people, and made a running bit about him. 'Ball Champions' is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I guess you're right, I just had an overwhelming feeling while watching the second one that it was a three-peat but I must be confusing it with some other Kate and Aidy joint.

If you want a visual reminder of how what 15 years means, this was the show's visual identity in S32 for his episode.

Hopefully his monologue tonight goes better than last time. Lotta that early-mid-2000s GAY!! LOL!!!! humour (he had been in Brokeback Mountain two years earlier.) You may also see Yahya Abdul-Mateen II pop up tonight, per their joint appearance on Monday's Kimmel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HExfPsXXKtM

Camila Cabello may be performing the following tracks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXDjVHgeZ3A

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6roZ_cLrid0

And Vintage is Johnny Knoxville with System of a Down from May 7 2005, the third-to-last-ever episode in SD. Also a terrible episode, is anyone vetting these broadcasts? You can listen to the That Week podcast on this episode here, or on Apple podcast or wherever you do podcasts.

It's fun seeing SOAD on the Vintage this week and sad knowing they just don't book anyone outside of a few safe genres these days.

I always love it when Kenan's playing a host on a make-the-contestants-uncomfortable game show.

Have they done 'why did you like that' before? It all seemed vaguely familiar.

Gyllenhaal is killing it. The material is kind of weak but he's still hilarious.

Ok, they're doing another musical sketch and I'm here for it, but that CD rack had an Apollo Four Forty album, and Hello Nasty by the Beastie Boys and I feel attacked.

OK, vocal harmonies are tight. Let's have it.

Just overall a fun and silly episode with Jake killing it in his host duties. Dude really did just want to have a fun time and it meant I laughed a bunch even at sketches that weren't necessarily great at times.

Update was solid as hell too.

That was a decent episode made into good/great by Jake Gyllenhaal absolutely killing it. And I don’t mean that as a big criticism, necessarily. I had a fun time!

I still find it baffling that they can't write anything for such a good impressionist (they didn't even get her to do her Owen Wilson when he hosted)

Look at this poo poo, Lizzo's doing double duty tonight, joining Sting and Drake for a sweaty, tantric three-way tie for shortest episode billing (5 characters.) Hammer is 4th at 6 characters. These are important and relevant facts.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsaXV46tcMY

No Vintage tonight, for tonight is the inaugural simulcast of the USFL. Along with the game starting early at 7:30, there is scheduled to be an episode of The Wall at 10:30, which I imagine is a floater to buffer in the likely event of the game running long. Because if you think Lorne's gonna be delayed by another bullshit football league that won't exist in a year, think again.
