Seeing the overwatch UI kinda brings back to the late 90s and early 2000s where you'd just mod skins into your favorite game so it'd be like you were playing the game of your favorite franchise but it really wasn't.

I love the classic mecha dashes that you can do. Spend your thruster fuel to "sprint" or to dash.

RX-78's napalm grenade ult is nuts but uhhh I don't recall that being part of it's arsenal in the anime? (or any variant of 78 for that matter)

Turn A's grapple throw is pretty funny though a little janky to catch.

Guntank is strange to evaluate. Not exactly strong yet is plenty annoying to the enemy. Also core fighter kamikaze attack.

I think it's an interesting design choice that there is no universal melee button in this game.

How does one emote???

Certain attacks like RX-78's hyper hammer need a better transition to projectile because hitting targets and the first-person swinging animation on it feels disjointed. Makes it kinda hard to use.

I like how Guntank's weapons just auto target. Kinda weak when targeting multiples but nice for just peppering damage on the multiple targets zooming in and out of cover.

GM Sniper's ranged res is really good- because pubs often forget that you can revive teammates. As the 'eye in the sky' you you have the ability to shoot a res dart at anyone while you don't have targets to sight. Just tap the button and they are back in the fight as long as they aren't being thirsted.

It really stabilizes point control objectives when there is so much back and forth that people don't get thirsted so fast. Of course, this ability alone isn't worth it if you're rear end at sniping. Does GM Sniper's ult wallhax benefit the whole team or just himself?

Having given this a bit more time, I'm starting to see the "un-fun" of Barbatos. Getting hit by the stun is basically a death sentence, even if Barb's the only guy there. And he maintains annoying movement when you're trying to fight him off.

Also I think Barbato's stun is just easier to land. I think it's hard to whiff it, compared to say, RX-78's hyper hammer that kinda has a delay.

Marasai's also has a delay and kind of a stun effect, but he's sort of a 1v1 assassin.

Turn A is weird because he's *kinda* tanky but unlike Sazabi his gun is sort of hard to use. The damage is kind of eh and it's a semi-auto beam. Though I suppose the benefit is that it shoots straight. Moonlight Butterfly doesn't seem as powerful as you would think? His grapple is kinda funny but also finicky

I thought I liked the Turn-A but I keep whiffing the grab and I'm not a fan of plinking with his gun. I do like his tankiness and nanoskin though.

I love that his reload animation is just "welp don't need this one anymore"

I think if someone leaves a big message is displayed saying you can leave too. (though I suppose you might lose points yeah. But I mean who cares about ranked points in a network test, it's all wiped anyways)

If someone leaves extra early, the entire match is terminated.

I was thinking about that, doing something like that - grouping different mechs together as skins - would probably be a great way for more representation without having to make a million different distinct characters. Like they could make a dozen odd GM skins for the GM, same for the Zaku.

There's only two legendary skins so far and they don't seem to really change the shape of the mobile suit. Most games put major aesthetic shifts on legendary skins but here we have G-3 Gundam (which is just RX-78 grayed out) and this weird Matrix colored Exia. Looks cool sure, but it's still Exia's exact shape and design.

I'd be all over Blue Destiny in some form regardless though, and then change the HADES G-Manuever icon to EXAM.

I can already see them giving Marasai's hook to Crossbone.

Besides having Heavyarms on my wishlist (EW ver preferably), I would also love to see Jesta as another grunt suit addition. Beam Gun, Shield, and maybe it'll have the base jabber in some capacity. They also have a few missiles they could mix in as an ability if necessary.

I don't know if there's design space for Nu Gundam since funnels are already a thing on the Sazabi... but I-Field functionality maybe?

I can't claim to be a pro on making an opinion about barb but I think as just a regular gamer I can classify barb as just "unfun" to get stunned and 2 shot around a corner. Wasn't there a JP only closed beta before this? Was Barb there too? Same thing? Most other things don't make me go "gently caress" when I encounter it. I mean 1v1 Sazabi does, but it doesn't feel as helpless as Barb stun.

Also I hope they fiddle with how abilities come out. There's this kinda jarring disconnect between your throw animation and the projectile actually going out. Originally noticed this throwing the hyper hammer on the 78 (you can kinda get used to it but it still doesn't 'feel' good) and now with GM's C4 throwing. I've burned myself a few times early on throwing it with backwards momentum.

one thing thats gonna be weird and probably turn off a lot of pc players however is that turn speed is actually a function of your mobile suit's stats (i.e. snipers and other supports usually have a slower turning speed, whereas generals and particularly raids, the melee focused subtypes, turn faster) which feels fine with a controller but probably feels much stranger with KBM.

GBO2 has gacha systems right? How heavy is it in GBO2?

Dev talks about some of their observations regarding mobile suit balancing from the network test.

The dev addresses Barbatos, Turn A, Marasai, and GM Sniper II

Top 3 win rates were
1. Barbatos
2. Sazabi
3. Pale Rider

Turn A and Marasai were intended by the dev team to be counters- Turn A's Judo throw and Marasai's stun whip were both supposed to counter melee attackers.

The blogpost mentions briefly what they intend to change based on current data, but it sounds like they want to see the console data first before making any decisions.

The Marasai ability activation speed was definitely one of the things that (to me) didn't feel good. I also feel the same way about RX-78's hammer to a lesser degree, except the RX-78 isn't useless if he whiffs.

Pale Rider with his machine gun feels the most regular shooty. What I mean by that is he probably feels the simplest to understand and play, so people probably dig him in the survey.

I mained Pale Rider and I thought it was fine. No game changer but no slouch either.

Yeah I think most people would agree. It was hard to use and when you finally did connect with it, it wasn't really something you needed. I think the EMP ability needs a rework of sorts. Maybe an actual throw instead of just lobbing it at your feet?

Good point, I suppose it's fine in that sense. EMP still feels kinda wimpy though.
