I think I first brushed up against Monty Python when I was like 8 or 9 in (not officially) Jewish day camp and it was the first instance of disliking a property without having seen it for its fans being obnoxious and out of context quotes failing to wow. Kind of like Rich and Marty is these days.

late season/longform Python was the best. the weird half season they did without Cleese was actually the best, most experimental stuff they did, like the "Michael Elias" episode

I actually started doing a rewatch of MPFC last week, partway through the first season. The episode where almost all of it revolves around alien blancmanges turning all of England into Scotsmen is still one of my favorite long-form sketches they ever did THEY MEAN TO WIN WIMBLEDON

John Cleese is fine. The worse thing he says is what amounts to "Some times cancel culture goes too far" and people lose their minds over it. He also spent 4 years railing against Trump and people on here call him a "chud" so  Also referencing Holy Grail is actually really cool.
