 I don't understand why this isn't seen as a bigger deal? Modern society will never give up plastics willingly. I wish we would go back to using more natural materials like wood and paper for packing, and glass or metal for all food related item(s). Long after humanity is gone from the face of this Earth our plastic waste will stain it as a reminder of our hubris. I feel like with climate change and looming economic/social collapse it's nearly over for us, and worrying about yet another problem we have no way of fixing is even more of a waste of time.

I'm not sure what it's supposed to be doing to us other than be in our bodies and be plastics. None of the commonly identified materials are chemically bioactive, nor are they, like, molecularly sharp and carving up our DNA, or whatever.
