TERFs on twitter are saying it's not a sex crime because it was only a merkin, and I'm pretty sure that defence won't hold up in court. It's still armed robbery if the gun is fake, after all.

I can't wait for the court case where she tries the "it was fake pubic hair" defence and the magistrate/jury (public indecency is triable either way) tell her "lol no you're still a sex criminal". The best part about common law is that it doesn't really lend itself well to loopholes.
