I don't recall if its been covered in this thread, but a lot of the VA issues are a technical limitation. As in, they hardcoded how long each line of dialogue is, to the point that changing it would break the engine. That's why Yuna's 'yes' is so short and clipped, for example. This was one of the first big budget games to be fully voice acted like this, so it's sort of understandable.
