Then why not just demolish the bad house and put tomorrow's bad house in its place?

why do that when you could buy the property, sit on it while the taxes are low, and wait for the state to pay for the demolition because it's become a 'hazard'?

You say "retirement" like that'll ever be a real option for anybody currently under the age of like 60.

anybody currently under the age of 60 will come to know "retirement" as when they turn 55, are thus more of a drain on the fossil fuel mining operation camp they live in than an asset, and are to be publicly executed for entertainment.

when my friends were prepping their 100-yr-old victorian for market last year their agent told them to paint all the natural woodwork white & the off-white walls all grey.

they had already gotten an offer accepted on a place they were buying tho so they sold their old house without loving it all up.

to anyone painting over natural woodwork in their house: gently caress you

do people not use attorneys when buying property in the rest of the country???? the first thing i did in nyc was find a real estate attorney ffs

ny real estate is infinitely more complicated than every other state, basically every one i talked to in the buying process said this, our state is insane

not complicated like you need to be a genius to figure out but complicated as in it's easier to just hire a lawyer who knows who to call to move things along because otherwise you start the buying process in march and finish in October lol
