Man Musk posted:House experience: we bought a house way out in the exurbs. Within a month, all that poo poo became unaffordable. Hail Allah. good for you I am happy that you secured a nice home for you and your loved one. I’d personally be more accepting of moving out into the burbs if I already had a significant other. But I don’t. so if I want to date seriously I need to be somewhere denser and with young people.

what resource would provide information of how much housing stock is bought up by capital vs bought up by people? is there some gov site that has aggregates? would that be listed with assessor data one by one?

re: these types of cabinets - serious question for the thread. why is it that sometimes the style *looks* extremely expensive and contemporary and other times the style *looks* extremely cheap? like basically ikea cabinetry. I’m serious, at first I thought it was exclusively the impact of the handles but it seems to be more than that

it’s wild that a not-insignificant percent of the population has lived on a college campus: which is a great example of pedestrian oriented urban design… and yet many people still hate anything denser than Detached single family homes

bawfuls posted:not that wild, they associate college life with cramped dormitory living where you share a bathroom with a dozen other people okay so instead of 400 sf dorms with two peoples make it 800 sf apartments with private bathrooms for one peoples. I get your point tho

YOLOsubmarine posted:This is what dorms are now. The days of two or three to a room and a bathroom down the hall are over, schools are building suite style dorms to attract students and have been for some time. In that case, I was right all along. Hopefully that helps the next generation realize how awesome condensed smart urbanism can be for quality of life.
