assuming you’re on windows did you check the box that makes file extensions disappear everywhere or did you only change it for a single directory

yeah, overall i view linkedin as pretty benign, it and pretty much all its users know what it is about, but they still can't resist now and then send you some dumb engagement email

lol my refusal to have anything to do with linkedin paid off (in a petty way) this year when the company i work at bought another company, and someone at the acquired company said "yeah i looked you up but couldn't find anything about you"

our HR intranet portal has a “link your LinkedIn profile” on it and I refuse to use it.

it seems to scrape the profile and puts the LinkedIn photo/name as your email and other profile photos.

a guy I worked with had a trash LinkedIn account that he created to see what LinkedIn was about but ultimately he didn’t use it. But probably because he is a boomer, he thought that it was mandatory to include a LinkedIn to the new hr system. so he linked the trash account.

so he was known as “Big Stiffy” in HR for about a month.

it was surprisingly difficult to get it removed.

in intermediate my nickname was “stiff”, which is ironically because I am actually a bit softie 🥹

why do people get mad about linkedin, it’s great for looking up people who you had meetings with 4 months ago and/or getting referral bonuses for randos who hit you up on there

i will never understand why windows wanted to hide the file extension from you to begin with.

probably my least favorite feature is all the goddam animation on ios. i would just like the gui widgets to get out of my way, they dont need to do the fuckin electric slide on their way out.

gnome tracker seems to have a new way to get it completely disabled on every lts release or something.

I keep having to look up poo poo on what dconf or systemd thing to execute because I swear the mechanism always changes and sometimes it doesn't even stick.

I ended up making the cache directories a symlink to /dev/null and maybe symlinking other tracker config files to /dev/null and it probably segfaults now but at least it doesn't consume 100% of my disk i/o at random times.

both kde and gnome really should ask a question during first-login if you actually want those miners/trackers running at all.

i'm sure 70 % of all users disable them
