you can also see the right contrail is z-buffered in front of the cloud cover. id imagine you could make out the left is doing the same irl but it gets mushed and disappears in the compression that's why this pic is so cool. when is the Sun ever pointing UP (daily, at around sunset. but that's a minority time of the day and usually you miss it) this is around the same time of day where you get purples and pinks in the sky in late winter

even around fall you get those colors, but yeah some of my favorite pics are from winter, e.g.     etc. the hdr merge of one of those is always cool too
