The Baron's daughter is missing, and you are the man to find her. No problem. With your inexhaustible arsenal of hard-boiled similes, there is nothing you can't handle.

-Margo is going to get caught up in some espionage sting. There's no way the CIA aren't aware of her Russian boyfriend. Sadly I think Aleida will end up using some information she gets given through it and gets caught too.

Yeah this is why I'm absolutely convinced there'll be some sort of espionage scandal plotline. The CIA will know this phonecall is happening and probably is fine with it as long as it's convenient, but something will happen (probably poo poo going wrong on Mars) and Margo will be exposed.

Grand Fromage posted:

Seems likely. Hard to believe the head of NASA has spent a decade exchanging secret phone calls with the Soviet Union without being noticed and monitored.

Aldrich Ames spent nearly a decade blatantly selling secrets to the soviets, openly meeting with them in the Soviet embassy, and living way above his means, without anyone suspecting him. You are all vastly overestimating the competence of the CIA.

The KGB just needs Margo to believe that they are crazy enough to kill Sergei, so acting like unhinged cartoon villains is actually a completely rational strategy.

I've been wondering how Moore and the writers will approach the big historical beats like the 2000 election, 9/11, and the war on terror and my theory is that they just won't.

Now that they've got Ellen in the white house and can show us the Presidential drama up close as an element of the show, my theory is that they will glaze past the 2000 election drama and substitute some other catastrophe appropriate to the fiction of the show in place of 9/11.

I'm guessing they will give lip service to vague middle east happenings but basically steer clear - who wants to write a show about moon bases and landing on mars and then have to blend in Islamic-extremism, middle-eastern terrorism, etc?

I don't really understand what the conspiracy theorists needed Jiimmy for if their plan was just to set off a big bomb in the parking lot. What was the point of the doohickey they had him install at NASA? Did I miss something?
