Apple TV+'s best kept secret, For All Mankind returns to payoff the question raised in the final shot of last season: whose foot was that on Mars in 1995? While it could be the US or Soviets, a wildcard has been thrown into the race. No, it's not China, Japan, the EU, or any other nation(s). It's privateers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4EOW9oqZ4k Runs weekly for 10 episodes, starting June 10th. Edward Mass fucked around with this message at 02:06 on May 17, 2022 |

People want this show to be more progressive, but then it wouldn't be realistic for its time. Unrelated, but I'm betting that the next time-skip intro will have George Harrison being murdered by that guy who, in real life, non-fatally stabbed him.

Your Gay Uncle posted:Glad I stuck with it because now the show is going full on silly. I thought mrs. Robinson space entrepreneur Karen was a stretch but apparently North Korea sent a single manned probe to Mars in 1994 and didn't tell anyone one. Bush Sr. wasn't Vice President under Reagan in For All Mankind, as the IRL 1976 Reagan campaign had Richard Schweiker as his pick. Schweiker runs against Democrat Gary Hart in 1984, where Hart wins. Apple TV+ has season 2 of Foundation to promote, they don't want two space shows on at the same time.

I think we should have a competition to see who we think is U.S. President on the show in 2003, because neither George W. Bush nor Al Gore would make sense as candidates in 2000 given the lack of inside access they had in real life. I'm going to stake out Mario Cuomo if it's a Democrat and John McCain if it's a Republican.

Handsome Ralph posted:Was talking to a friend about it, I feel like McCain is the most likely Republican president. Bush Sr. maybe? I can't remember if they made him Reagan's VP in the show or not. He wasn't, because in our 1976, Reagan chose Richard Schweiker to be his Veep pick, and For All Mankind follows this lead.
