it must feel great to just tell people to go read several 20 page docs before they can use your service

when i broke my back, i got HR to buy me a cot to put in an unused office. i can slip away in there sometimes to rest my back and *looks around* take a little snooze

of course, i can't actually have the empty office for myself, as that would be above my station, but i can at least get out of the cubicle and lie down for a bit

[ASK] me about OS/2 Warp
right now as we speak there are at least fifty people in the united states rocking out and saying "Hell yes, i love the idea of digging through the ditches and burning through the witches, this music speaks to me" and that's fine.

you'd think that, but it's more like spending countless hours building and configuring things to be as easy to use as possible, writing clear documentation and putting actual effort into organizing it, and giving people a single command they can run to fully install and configure their toolchain automatically, and then people use none of that and complain that everything is too complicated because we're not just using heroku or whatever

most of my problem is everyone who knows what the 10k folders in the terraform repo do or how they work left so no one which magic words i need to add so that this s3 bucket i need doesnt just become an open invite for someone to store all their nfts in

Archduke Frantz Fanon
Sep 7, 2004

i mean i probably could just hit this big "create bucket" button on the s3 site it seems a lot easier

well-read undead
Dec 13, 2022

hitting that button over and over is what sends people to terraform. letting everyone hit that button (or touch terraform) is asking for a giant shitshow

sounds like your (company's) problem is there's a job that needs doing that nobody has, in which case the answer is do whatever gets you unblocked as quickly and easily as possible cause it's not your responsibility to make sure it's "done right"
