I took a pretty long hiatus from Something Awful for no particular reason. One of the last things I remember was Doomhouse, and you guys also had a porn forum. I think I just forgot about it for quite a few years and then I got banned from reddit and remembered this place. Then I catch smatterings of commentary on Lowtax and everyone hates him now for what I think might be relationship abuse issues and it was only like three days ago when I finally realized he committed suicide. What a twist!

Can't hate him, well I guess you can but I don't, don't really respect him much either especially after it all went to poo poo lol. He was seriously messed up in the last part of his life. I watched one of his gaming garbage eps, as long as I could stand to watch it any ways, and he was a medicated drunken mess, he did say hi though. RIPiss, eating goldbelly and drifting your gtr in purgatory.

I feel like some people have outsized impact on culture just due to luck. A bunch of what made SA SA was following in Lowtax's footsteps, since he was the role model for this place in a lot of ways, especially in its early days. So some of his opinions got baked into the culture of this place, for no better reason than that he had those opinions. Buncha people could have had a lot less aggression in their lives if the owner of this comedy forum hadn't been such an aggressive person. Kinda sad really

It took a lot of work with good people to lose the edgelord-ness I picked up from here and other early internet zones. Nothing is sacred, but maybe I don't have to poke at everyone and everything to see what happens. Maybe I can moderate my language to not other anyone. Maybe I can be.. Nice? I can't blame Lowtax for all of that, and he/we did often use our powers for good, but lord were we rough. Then Lowtax somehow just got worse.

I feel like making Lowtax the center of blame of all the internet edgelord poo poo we all did 20+ years ago is a really easy way to absolve ourselves of blame for poo poo we've done and caused as people over the years, and he made it easy by being a hateful figure that blew his brains out. Call me crazy.
