I haven’t seen a Troma movie since college. let’s see if I still like this poo poo. if you’re watching troma stuff you should definitely check out the nobodies if you want something very weird and deeply sad. it’s a mockumentary about a guy who made a really weird film and took his life after being ostracized after a local screening of it and alternates between showing the film and interviews with the people involved and family and friends and townsfolk. it’s a lot and gets super heavy but it’s one of my all time favorite films if you can handle the heaviness of the “real life” segments and the relentless weirdness of the film in the film. also watch screamplay screamplay owns it’s fun it’s funny it’s screamplay everyone should watch it

I need to expand on my already ridiculously large watch list via recommendations. definitely open doom crescendo but that one isn’t really available to watch anywhere yet (  ) i’d keep my eyes peeled for it tho because it’s a loving masterpiece. project wolf hunting is possible to see and mostly really good so if you wanna watch something soon that’s a recommendation. it fumbled the final act but the lead up is incredible. a group of violent prisoners are being transported via container ship from the philippines to south korea and predictably they manage to break free. it is extremely violent and bloody but it’s a fun kind of violent. i’d recommend going in blind if you wanna watch it but if you’re not sold here’s another hook  do not click this if you’re already planning to watch it it does a from dusk til dawn and turns from a the raid to a slasher

Goatse and Gallant posted:I did not watch his other works, I want to now though, as I did like it! alright cool. i’ll check it out then. i’d definitely recommend checking out 5cm per second (minimal plot and more experimental with the storytelling but extremely good) and your name (way more of a crowdpleaser but still retains the unique voice which is impressive and it looks gorgeous). also worth watching voices from a distant star (a one trick short but it executes its one trick very well)

it’s messy and flawed and i can understand the backlash from people who just wanted more of the same from season 1. but taken as it’s own thing i found it incredible. what can i say i’m a slut for characters doomed by the narrative trying to achieve some sort of redemption
