If modding works as usual, then 1000 planets is a hell of a canvas. Even presuming that for game engine and gameplay reasons, those 'planets' are probably bite-size scaled small rocks.

Just some scenery for taking pretty pictures and building a base. Here's Todd confirming that there will be a lot of planets with nothing to do : I think so too, but completionism is a disease, and those affected by it won't be able to refrain from scanning every square inch of every single planet for no good reason and accept every radiant quest while complaining loudly that it isn't enjoyable.

Bethesda stopped being my friend when they decided that they wanted to be more than the Elder Scrolls people and started wasting time on lovely Fallout games and other ventures instead of just MORE ELDER SCROLLS like the gods intended. That said, I might call a truce for Starfield.

It's kind of lol to get caught criming early on... You basically are force-hired as undercover agent to take down the Crimson Fleet. Like, here I am, dumb level 6 lowlife thug become miner and somehow they feel like I'm the one they should hedge their multi-million only-one-chance operation. Not to mention I fly the one ship the Crimson Fleet is apparently after. Like, I appreciate the whole undercover op thing, but surely it could have been gated by some level/reputation?

The bounty system is out of whack isn't it? For some reason, UC security attacked me wherever I went. Reloaded my save and found that I have a 30k bounty with 18 murders, which I guess I accumulated by raiding spacers and pirates at rando locations when trying to complete a planet data, or maybe the bots who attacked me near wind turbines, but that was self-defense... Anyhow, I ended up landing at a civilian outpost with a terminal, and turns out I'm supposedly *not* wanted in the settled systems. However, I had a 30k bounty by... Crimson Fleet... And for some reason, that triggers main faction security. Had to waste the credits to clear it and now everything's fine. Not sure that's exactly all working as intended.

Came across a hailing starship which was a husband and wife lost after having taken a wrong turn at some planet. Wifey insisted on asking for directions, hubby insisted it wasn't needed and he totally knew where they should be going. Ruined hubby's day by telling them wifey was right and they should have turned left, at which point she proceeded with the I TOLD YOU SO and he started mumbling incoherently while "thanking" me. That was it. Quest done. Game good.

Is there a setting anywhere to prevent the game from pausing when out of focus? If I wait 24h to reset vendor cash, I'd like to be able to click on a browser window on the second screen while that happens without the game saying "nope, you need to waste your time watching this bar decrease".

victrix posted:The 'companion must have 1 ammo of whatever type' is just insanely, wildly dumb Because that means that if you pickpocket ammo from a NPC before making them angry, they'll resort to punching, which wouldn't be the case with infinite ammo. At least that's my impression based on a single experience (dodgy guard letting me in peacefully, which later aggroed, but I had pickpocketed the ammo and he was trying to punch my Space Sumo wrestler to death, so I had to show him what actual punching to death looked like). Obviously, you could just pickpocket the gun but I don't have the ranks for that yet.
