A new study conducted by the University of Toronto suggests that contrary to popular belief, picking at one's scabs may actually be beneficial to one's health: "We've been told since our childhood that picking at scabs was bad, but ours was the first study to actually look at it" said Dr. Fillmore of the U of T Department of Health & Wellness. "What our study seems to show is that you've gotta get that dead skin off there somehow to let the new skin grow. It's also very fun to do - it releases serotonin into your brain which promotes good mental health."

Established thought on the topic included concerns about scarring and possible infection of a re-opened wound. "That's all fake, don't worry about that" said Dr. Fillmore. "When you think about it, science has for the longest time not been able to explain why humans evolved finger nails, when the answer was right in front of us."
