I had one in March, and it was pretty straightforward. With insurance, I paid about $400, and the recovery was basically "stay on the couch for the first 48 hours". Without insurance, it wouod have been about $700, but I didn't exactly shop around, so I don't know if you can get it done cheaper.

If I had a desk job, I could have gone back to work in a couple days, but I took about 5 days off to make sure I wasn't going to pop a stitch. There was a little soreness, but nothing Advil couldn't take care of.

The entire thing was done under local anesthetic, and I was prescribed a couple of valium to take before the procedure, so I don't remember most of it.
