Shout outs to Every Frame A Painting still being really good. I also went back through the old Folding Ideas film ones which are still excellent although I have an unhealthy relationship with The Snowman now.

Friends don't go down the cinematography essayist rabbit hole or you will start thinking about color, focal lengths and camera angles.

Bottom Liner posted:well post your fav youtubers that cover this stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2h4MQ8zA_Vg And also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF5lmYgoYEM edit Here's one I like about Chinatown, a film I love the look of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqblVWWvY-A&t=361s A lot of directors/cinematographers talk about breaking down shots to see all the setups and I think that'd be something that'd be interesting to do, Scorsese recomends Kubrick obviously. He also mentions the trick of watching a Kubrick film with the sound off to just get the flow of the shots and pace. If you watch too much you end up noticing things otherwise, like aha! He's moved in close with a wide angle because the character is disorientated, or wants the character to appear unhinged. A lot of time spent looking at peoples noses on closeups to try and gauge the type of lenses people are using. algebra testes fucked around with this message at 11:45 on Jan 17, 2023 |
