Keeping the ball rolling with a pick that may not have been on anyone else's shortlist. Letterkenny selects C Yanic Perreault (1995-2008) The NHL has only really kept faceoff stats since around 2000. Perreault is the recorded king, having won over 60% of his faceoffs during his career, which included well over 10,000 of them.

So I wasn’t going to pick this player , because he is cool and does not deserve suffering , but due to popular demand: Flyers pick Shjon Podein Date of crime: Nov 12, 1998 In true Flyers fashion, he of course won a cup after leaving the Flyers , so good for him. “While helping Colorado capture the Stanley Cup in the 2000–01 season, Shjon also scored a career-high 15 goals and equaled his best points total at 32. Shjon is often remembered for wearing his uniform a full 25 hours after winning game 7 of the Stanley Cup final” Kharlamov — Clarke —- Vandevelde Sharp —- Sittler —- Holmgren Brendl —- Syd Howe —- Nystrom McCarty —- Lehtera —- Podein Desjardins — Andrew MacDonald Luke Schenn —- Risto Crossman —- Tony D Hextall Bryz

Fawning skipped. Quebec selects "Le Petit Viking" Mats Naslund (1984-89). Naslund overcame his small stature in the rough-and-tumble 1980s to put up four (almost five!) consecutive point-per-game seasons, all the while playing in a defensively-oriented Habs system. Time for another Hall of Famer, my last pre expansion pick. Norm Ullman, 1960-1968 He was a very good player who was never really the best, but played a lot of games. A compiler, but a pretty good one who had the luxury of being teammates with some great players. He was a center, but I'll shift him to wing to play beside Backstrom. quote:Era: Of the 15 skaters to play in at least 1066 games (13 modern seasons) between 1955 and 1975, Ullman is He did finish second in Hart voting in 1965, losing handedly to Bobby Hull. I think it's my pick. I'll take Jon Cooper who I think is more or less the best or second best coach in the NHL these days. The only one I might take over him is Mike Sullivan. The Montreal Maroons take John Ferguson, Sr. as Head Coach because:Wikipedia posted:The slash was apparently done at the instigation of assistant coach John Ferguson. "I remember that Kharlamov's ankle was hurting pretty bad. I called Clarke over to the bench, looked over at Kharlamov and said, 'I think he needs a tap on the ankle.' I didn't think twice about it. It was Us versus Them. And Kharlamov was killing us. I mean, somebody had to do it." Canadian journalist Dick Beddoes asked Clarke about it later at a team reunion, calling it a "wicked two-hander", to which Clarke replied "Dick, if I hadn't learned how to lay on a two-hander once in a while, I'd never have left Flin Flon." The Vancouver Canucks select.... Aubrey Victor “Dit” Clapper 31-41 Look at that handsome man! First NHL player to reach 20 seasons and one of two to be an all star at forward and defense. I’ll play him on my blueline quote:Normally a bit of a pacifist in terms of fisticuffs, Clapper lost his temper once when Dave Trottier of the Montreal Maroons butt ended Clapper's face with his stick. Referee Clarence Campbell never called a penalty, so Clapper too the law into his own hands and jumped Trottier. Disgusted at Clapper's actions, Campbell began to verbally assault Clapper as he escorted him to the penalty box, calling him a "dirty son of a bitch." After asking the ref what he had said, Clapper had enough punch Campbell right off of his feet. That sort of treatment of an official should have landed Clapper in a lot of hot water, but he only got a $100 fine. Campbell took much of the blame, claiming "I was talking loud when I should have been throwing them into the penalty box." I’ll get my North Stars picks in shortly

The Minnesota North Stars select.... Dirk Graham 88-93 Selke winning winger, Graham was an hard-nosed, aggressive, two-way player who could still put up 78 points. Will finish off my 4th line. And.... Thomas Vanek 05-15 Known for becoming a journeyman, during his prime Vanek was an excellent net-front guy with a great shot to boot who could put in 40+ goals. The Vancouver Canucks select.... Andy McDonald 01-10 One of the fastest skaters of the 2000s, McDonald was a small but fiercely determined center who’s career was unfortunately cut short by concussion issue but before that he was an important part of the Ducks cup run in 07, leading the team in playoff goals with 10 in 14 games. I think your top line would be really great together. Sid would mesh well with Hull and Naslund both really well. I might switch Taveres and Staal. I think Tavares is a better playmaker, and Staal would be good as a two-way guy on that third line.
