 Any time I play this stage it immediately makes me think of 90s arcade carpets and the smell of smoke machines, and I'm pretty sure Centralfiction never had arcade cabinets. Maybe the combination of neon red on dark makes me think of laser tag

I know Mark Ferrari's work from an old puzzle game collection called Heaven & Earth which features several of his backgrounds and is pretty good in its own right if you're into that sort of thing. Outside of the puzzles it has an original solitaire card game, which is really cool looking because each card has a miniature one of those color cycling pixel landscapes as artwork. It's abandonware, you should be able to find it on Internet Archive or otherwise :files: if you don't mind setting up an old Mac emulator like Sheepshaver or Basilisk.
