So last night we held our first Top Goose event. At 9pm EST the participants were lead to the Placid region, given 500m isk each, and had one hour to buy a ship and fittings, staying within the Placid region.

Our final fleet comp was as follows:
Astarte (shield tanked, blasters/hams)
Proteus
Hawk
Falcon full of faction ECM
Polarized Muninn
Sleipnir
Drekevac
Brick tanked Raven
Loki
Myrmidon Navy Issue with Geckos
30k EHP flycatcher

We roamed all over Syndicate looking for a fight but couldn't find anyone to shoot at, so we headed back to Orvolle, picked up a filament and ended up in Omist. Sadly it was just some ratters in system who docked immediately, but a few jumps up the pipe we found an ESS worth 50m, and we were ready to die so it was decided that this was as good a place as any. Of course the locals formed up and sent in a half dozen marauders to fight our kitchen sink fleet. We took a few losses, didn't kill anything, but successfully robbed the bank.

Many honks were had, but I'm really sad that we didn't find a good fight to really test our fits out. Maybe next time we'll just camp a low-sec gate and get a few dozen redeemers dropped on us.

Twas the night before Honkmas, when all through the hoose
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Goose.
The bubbles were deployed by the nullsec with care,
In hopes that a dumb ratter would soon be there.
The goslings were docked all snug in the nest,
While dreaming which navy dread would suit them best.
I give up on this poem as I have become quite tired,
But later this evening, many a shot will be fired.
If you are near the hole you should join us this night,
Merry Honkmas to all, and to all, good fight.

So last night, being the 6th day of Christmas, the day of Geese-a-layin, was the high holy day of Honkmas.

To celebrate, we had an action-packed lineup of fun goose things to do.

First up was a destroyer roam through our nullsec connection, which happened to be right in the middle of Delve! We piled in and honked at many in local. After 30 minutes of ishtars running away from us, a "response" fleet finally showed up. I guess 50+ dictors vs our 12 person fleet was an appropriate response? Sad times, however Santagoose Solo Drakban reimbursed us for 10x the value of our ships on that roam, I should have brought a Marauder!

As geese made their way back to our nest, we had a Honkmas Trivia, with categories such as "The Only Named System", "Name That Ship" and "Name That Goose". One of our friends from Prism proved to be the most knowledgeable and was rewarded with 250 plex.

Next up was our Mystery Brawl event. I hid audit log containers in our system at various celestials and corp bookmarks, filled with mods, drugs, exotic dancers, officer mods etc. I then gave every participant an empty Sunesis and they had 20 minutes to scavenge up a fit. The rule was that if you took something from a container, you had to use it. We then met up in the middle of our station grid and had an exciting brawl. It generated some great lossmails including this gem:
https://zkillboard.com/kill/105748802/

Prizes included a "McHuge" brand Astero, a Pacifier, and a set of each stealth bomber.

We then did a mystery gift selection, where everyone was able to take home a prize, including command ships, a nightmare, faction capital armor rep, an officer drone navigation mod, and more!

To wrap up the night, we took a fleet out to try and gank some marauders in low sec. Unfortunately we fell victim to the classic Vargur bait, and then 10 more Marauders showed up. One of these days, it won't be bait!

Thanks to all who came out to participate, it was a great time! We didn't kill anyone other than our own ships, but that's kinda in the spirit of Honkmas.

I would be extremely interested in learning what I am doing! Do you actually fight off/kite Sleepers, or just hack a couple cans and warp off? The Ghost Sites? I know my Cheetah can’t tank the explosion on a failure, so I assume a 160m fit Astero/skills can? I can actually afford that, as the person who gifted mre the Gnosis gave me an Astero hull that I’m not sure what to do with.

As far as the integrated analyzers, though, I really, really like the bump in coherence/virus strength from the Analyzer IIs, though. Make up for a couple of mistakes while hacking in null/WH space…we’ll worth the training days!

Yeah analyzer 2's are must for me. The Astero will explode to a can fail in a covert site, but you shouldn't be failing those since they are green/yellow hacks. I warp to the center cloaked, uncloak and start approaching the oddly named can. While on approach I cargo scan all the cans and change course if necessary. I hack one and leave. Getting greedy is how you get dead. I've had a couple 500m isk cans in nullsec, but that's not the norm. I'd say average is probably 50m or so. Magpie BPC and high-grade Epsilon BPC are the two you are looking for in nullsec.

For the sleeper cache sites, those don't have standard rats. They are like Indiana Jones style sites with gates, alarms, secret rooms, traps, etc. The EVEUni wiki has decent guides on them (they're only found in low/null). Loot is the sleeper blue loot that NPCs have buy orders for, Polarized Weapon BPCs (really only the torpedo launcher one is worth anything) and storyline BPCs which can sometimes be worth quite a bit.

What do you recommend aiming for after being off the game for over seven years? Is there any new event or area that makes it worth it to get back in the game? The graphics look great.

I think it depends on what gives you enjoyment in games in general. I love exploration in space games, so a lot of my focus is on doing that, which is why wormholes are fun for me. There's always a new route to find, new intel to gather, etc. Blops dropping is also a lot of fun, and again is made better by wormholes since you can drop different targets all the time.

I've also recently come to thoroughly enjoy using a scorpion to jam people in pvp fights.
