I know it’s the only version you own, but it’s also a very very crunched port to fit on a system that definitely could not handle a game that big. If you really want to give it a chance where it can put it’s best foot forward you should save up and buy the DE when you can. Or just accept that it wasn’t for you. Trying to power through the worst version of the game won’t do you any good IMO.
