its simple you just have to heat the jar up so it expands. Boil a pot of water and dunk the jar in there

i would simply not put my fist in the olive jar, and instead use a fork to spear the olives.

my dad used to have this really cool olive grabber where you stab the olive and then press a thing at the top and it pushed down a bar and would slide the olive off the fork
