So they made $175 m and spent $212m? What did they overspend on?

If they had higher revenue than Thurston's estimate they only lost around ~8m or so. But Thurston's expenses estimate is probably off too since he's using WWE's ratio of revenue made to expenses in the same area (live events for example) and WWE has much more overhead than AEW.

This was probably a decent hit, yes, and they haven't had a full year of Collision revenue to offset that.

Is that really what he based it on, that's really silly. WWE has way way way more overhead.

Take me to your Shida

AEW doesn't have any writers to pay and barely does any marketing so I'm sure their percentages are much lower

Also if you watch the video the amount the roster is paid on average is a complete guess at 450,000 dollars. Just a complete stab in the dark.

The only thing to take from the numbers is AEW probably records a loss, which makes sense and everyone knew would be the case before a new TV deal.

WBD are in merger talks with Paramount.

quote:

Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount would be looking to pool their assets, which span TV, film, sports and streaming, to gain greater scale and operational efficiencies. Specifically, WBD and Paramount would have an interest in combining their Max and Paramount+ premium streaming services to better compete with the likes of Netflix and Disney’s Disney+ and Hulu.

...

A merged WBD-Paramount Global would also be expected to combine their TV operations. Warner Bros. Discovery’s cable lineup includes HBO, TNT, TBS, Discovery Channel, Cartoon Network, Food Network, HGTV, TLC and others. Paramount’s networks include CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and BET.

Starrcade 97 is listed at 17,500 on Wikipedia which sounds right for a sellout of that building. If they are going to run a small stage this could end up being the biggest crowd Sting has ever main evented.
