Oh yeah, this mod gave a LOT of advantages to Japan compared to base game scenarios. Even restricted some of the Allied advantages and reinforcements as well. Pharnakes has also been going all in on living and breathing every scrap of information and every facet of the game's details.

Those are sometimes the game spazzing out about a convoy not having enough fuel to go from San Francisco to Sydney and back again without refueling. Even though you specified that they should refuel in Sydney... Other times the game thinks that a sub on an infinite patrol loop will obviously run out of fuel since it does not have infinite fuel. Nevermind waypoint 3 in the loop being spending a day refueling in Pearl Harbor... And then sometimes it genuinely is a force that is about to run out of fuel. Speaking of running out of fuel, Alikchi, have you started using full speed instead of mission speed when doing raids yet?

That shock attack wasn't completely wasted. You took out half of his vehicles in one go.

Well that was a pretty good day for you all things considered. Those carrier groups are probably the biggest and punchiest tool in his shop. Even though he can probably replace the planes, and the new pilots won't be too bad with the changes you made in the mod, taking down his swarm of aces from the 1942 massacres will likely go a long way towards levelling the playing field.

Finally some solid positive news for your side. It has been remarkably frustrating to see the ground combat/naval invasion go so one-sidedly in his favor for this long. I can imagine how big of a difference this makes for your morale.

Oh yeah, the AK doesn't matter at all in the grand scheme of things. APA and similar fancy troop transports or specialist amphibious ships are much more rare.

Cimber posted:That strait on the northeast of Australia is a bastard for me as well. I'm doing the 'GTFO of the DEI' phase of the game now, and I've lost a few ships to subs patroling that area. I found that if i set my task routing to coastal they do better. Into Cooktown for some refueling, then hug the coast behind the great barrier reef down to Brisbane. My APs going to PM take that root, and shoot out at flank speed when they have to cross. That seems to work pretty well, limiting my exposure. As soon as my B17s I managed to pull outta Clark Field and are sitting in Brisbane right now get a few more weeks of AWS training, they'll be put to good use. I usually either run them through Perth instead, since they won't have anything important to do for a while anyways. Unless I just shovel EVERYTHING into Java, Palembang and Port Moresby. It takes for-loving-ever to switch every single Australian unit over from reserve command to useful command btw. In case of the shoveling thing, I still end up stuffing all those DEI ships into Perth. Oh and regarding air replacement pools? Well...1942 sucks.

Cimber posted:Understood. I've actually started shooting stuff over to Perth and then the southern coast. You don't have to move them to an actually relevant HQ. Just pick the cheapest one you can find. I usually dump them all on the 1 Australian corps or something similarly named. As for how long until the stupidity ends? well...1942 sucks.

Alikchi posted:I didn't really time my attacks properly tbh. The B-24s were never going to hit the carriers, but if they'd made their runs before the dive bombers, the CAP might have been exhausted enough to get a few through. I also should have started flying the Hellcats and Corsairs over sooner, shouldn't have flown in the cream of my dive bombers and fighters to Groote to get bombarded the next morning.. but I'm still really happy we managed to actually avert a Japanese attack. I thought he was bringing in reinforcements when I saw his landing ships back at Mornington! Go for the highlight reels of any day that stands out and just skip the minutia of "bombed Broome". If you hit nothing during operation useless dirt and don't tell us, we'll live. If you sink the IJN Glorious Sun of the Divine Emperor's Shadow Dragon and don't tell us, that would be undesirable.

Cimber posted:WiTP has this funky feature that divides one raid into smaller parts for purposes of reporting, to represent different areas of the battle happening. So if you see 3 raids of bombers of 10, 6 and 4 aircraft that represents one raid of 16 bombers in that group. It can get pretty annoying later in the game when the allies do thousand bomber raids of Japan. Yeah I know, but he can still cut out the non essential posts and just focus on the pressure points of a turn.

Now that you have a carrier in play again in the area, you did remember to set to its pilots off training and on boat sinking right?

What really matters here is Pharnakes losing the asset he put into a raid like this. Alikchi needs to settle this both to teach Pharnakes that this is no longer possible to do without making it a one-way trip and frankly to give Alikchi some revenge and morale boosting. It has been a long and bloody war so far and almost all of the pain has been felt by Alikchi. Being able to say you lost some very rare ships but countered it by utterly crushing the irreplaceable ship that did the raid? That matters a lot more than whatever actually joins the seafloor exploration division.

Yup, because this game wants to test your ability to adapt to changes from the expected way of war. The staff plans, the tactical plans, the local recon and the fact that this game is a buggy mess that sometimes tries to rival Space Station 13.
